Wanted to know if anyone has been to the Wreck in the last few weeks. Might try it Saturday morning but I don't have coords. Can anyone help me with that?

Will post a report of my trip next week.
Thx

Finally moved back to LA. last February and bought me a boat. Been gone for a long time and the last time to this area was with my dad and uncle 35 years ago. Really looking forward to this trip to Sweetwater Marina. I have a real nice Lowrance on-board that I have not learned to use yet but plan on using it this weekend to navigate and learn the area. Want to use the live shrimp and will be making my Carolina rigs tomorrow night. Also have sparkle beetles and shad rigs.

Any tips from the forum will be appreciated. Taking my grandson and he loves to catch fish!!

Going out this Saturday if the weather holds. First time in six months - just now getting over my knee replacement. I have a 23' walkaround and can go out into the lakes. Just have not been out lately and am fairly new to the area. Any help would be appreciated.

Definitely check with the marina by the entrance to the Island. We have caught quite a few trout on their pier using live bait which they have. You need to get bait early though before they close. It could be tough now though with all the rain but it is ending. The trout we caught had those spaghetti looking parasites in them which are easy to remove.

A comment titled: Have you looked at Navionics APP in response to a report titled: Lake Ponchartrain Map

If you have an smartphone it is perfect for the lake. Has most of the artificial reefs and obstructions marinas, etc.

www,navionics.com

Use it with a chart.

There is no other explanation than a trout kill. It is not over fishing BUT the way you adjust that is increase the minimum size. Can't prove it but it seems logical.

A comment titled: KInda Childish in response to a report titled: !!!!BEWARE OF SERINGE'S LAUNCH!!!!!

We went down there 2 weekends ago. This website said that they did not know if there would shrimp at Capt. Jack's. This caused a stampede at this other launch. I pulled up very early there and there were many people buying shrimp and only one guy counting shrimp. What the hell is that?

So now I understand that there is a little battle going on between the 2 launches so much so that Jack - who I like, and his mates, are trawling their own live shrimp.

To me an easy solution, dont say what you can and cant do. Its expected. But you will be measured by how good your product is and your info.

Quite this BS. We need to work together.

Do you have a coordinate for where you went or the name of the rig you fished by. We fished further West in Black Bay on Saturday and it was pretty tough fishing.

Congrats on the haul.

A comment titled: Ohh Yea - how did we do? in response to a report titled: Fishing The Wreck

We fished Stone Island, several wells heads, headed to The Wreck and then hit a large production platform. 3 hours and all we had was a hardhead bite. Water looked a little dirty by the Island and was a little better at the wreck and platform. Went back inside and found nice clean water around Deer Island and ran into a small school of trout. if you fished top you got little ones if you fished bottom the larger trout would hit it. Ended the day with about 9 or 10. I only saw one other boat near the platform catching.

Before I went down there I check rodnreel and they have a place where you can search coordinates. The coordinates he gave are not off I just think it was a little more precise than what I am used to.

A comment titled: Yea I do BUT in response to a report titled: Fishing The Wreck

I want to get out there for about 3 hours hopefully getting there between 6 and 7 am. I have a 24' walkaround. Looks like wind may be an issue later in the day. I was wondering if anyone had the same setup as me and on a great weekend, spent the night at Stone Island.

BTW I check the salinity of this area with USGS and it is climbing quickly.

A comment titled: All the Dolphin in response to a report titled: Grand Isle weekend

I don't know if they were just a few following me around but I would guess we spotted over 50 dolphin all along the Barataria Waterway. We were totally shutout but we did not get there until 7 AM and it took awhile to motor down to Grand Isle. The guy at the Sand Dollar said they were catching some in the pass just East of Grand Isle. Nice day for a boat ride though.

A comment titled: It will never end in response to a report titled: Red Snapper (enemies?)

The problem is these people are not interested in anything but themselves and their businesses. I don't see how they can claim that recreational fisherman overfish their quotas? How do they know that?

A comment titled: Nice fish in response to a report titled: 24-7/365 open state waters snapper?

Looking forward to this Saturday. Looks like the North wind could kick things up a little. We are still game though. Sure would like to catch a nice tuna and maybe a grouper or two.

A comment titled: Capt Jack is the man. in response to a report titled: Delacroix

He (and his employees) have helped me a lot. Water has been low but should be doing a little better now. Be careful and have some gear to fish live bait. He may have some so get there early.
