Morning!

I am contemplating building a Tims Marine Custom Flat.

Looking at a 18.60 with fantail or a 19.66 with fantail.

Center Console, 24 volt trolling motor, F115 Yamaha with 30-40gal built in fuel tank...

I see these boats come up for sale occasionally, 1980 somthing models, they don't last more than a week on the market.

Sounds like the are built to last and people love them.

My goal is pull lil test trawl when able and chase reds and do some inside fall trout fishing in Delacroix.

I got two sons up and coming and look forward to getting them out on the water with me and teaching them everything i know. I am thinking 18'ft or 19'ft for what i am doing is plenty room.

Any of you have one of the tims flat with fantail, thoughts, pics of layout of boat? Any building suggestions?

Thanks,

Matt

Anyone familiar with Panga Marine's 22' Pangas? Looking to talk to anglers who fish out of the 22' ft Boca Grande by Panga Marine or their 22' Marquesas. Thinking about making a jump to a boca grande with a F150 yamaha. Any thoughts?

Here is the manufacturer's site:

Reality! Hogs are moving in. Not good. Here are some trail cam pics that are three months apart. The hogs basically doubled in size. They need to go.

That is good numbers for me. Post a photo once you get it. Where you plan on fishing? I seen they have a yellow one running down in delacroix and they have a blue Andros out at west end, New Orleans harbor.

No. I ended up buying a used 24' Blazer Bay model 2400 cc. Great boat. It was perfect for black bay, lake pontchartrain, close rigs out empire / grand isle, and inside delacroix. Even did a little shrimp trawling out of it. Down fall for that boat was you needed every inch of two feet to get that big bastard up.

If you got the coin to play, the Blazer 2400 is a solid boat. I would just buy a new one next time and slap a yamaha f250 on it. I was running a suzuki on mine. These days the blazer bay and black jack boats are catching my eye.

I recently sold the blazer and down sized to a 18' Tims custom flat w/ 3'ft fantail. You rarely can find a used one. A new one rigged out will run you $26K+-. I got lucky and found a 2004 model which is rare. If you find a used one they are typically 1980 models. People build the to order and keep them. Since I fish alot by myself during the week. This boat is perfect, economical, and strong. Perfect for Delacroix where i mostly fish.

I would love to have a panga 22' but the 18' tims flat is hard to beat for what i do. The narrow bottom, high deck, and speed of panga kept me mostly from buying.

I hope this helps.

DO YOU THINK THE F115 IS OVERKILL? I WOULD LIKE TO CRUISE IN 30s LOADED DOWN JUST IN CASE I WANT TO RUN TO MOUTH OF BLACK BAY AND NOT TAKE 2 HRS.

I recommend Southern Outdoors in Thibodaux. I bought a 17.56 cc G3 flat boat from them - new. Long story short had issue with hull with electrolysis. Called ONE time, S.Outdoors took the ball and ran with it. Two months later I had a brand new boat and trailer not one question asked. Side note i believe Yamaha owns G3 boats now and i am sure they were not going to let a piece of tin give them a bad name. Needless to say my issue was made whole and i would buy from them again and again.
