Recorded my self hunting for shits and giggles but then decided to go home and edit it. Turned out not to bad. Had a great time that morning. Yall check it out. Quality starts off low in beginning of hunt due to the lighting but gets better. https://youtu.be/3wDA5oY-SG0

Been doing some research about primitive camping in Louisiana on some of the WMA's. So far no luck of finding anything besides the places you have to pay for, and then you still have to set your tent up at a specific location and there is a toilet 200 yards away. I wanna go straight up bushcraft primitive camping with a buddy. Any ideas? Been looking at maybe the outskirts of some of the wmas like Maurepas but then it says you have to primitive camp in a certain location and idk if you can have fires or cut wood or not? Any help would be great thanks.

Curious if hunting out of a aluminum bass boat with 50 on it and red carpet would work out if it is all covered in burlap and pulled up behind some tall grass in the swamp. I don't know if its worth it or should just keep trying to get friends to take me. Thought about parking it down a little and paddling with kayaks but i don't think ill be able to transport all that.

Looking to go Bass fishing Thursday. I always have trouble finding fish. Iv fished lake henderson and lake verret before and small canals by st. amant. Never any luck. Will travel no more than 1 and half from baton rouge. Any good ideas? Was looking at Bayou sorrel but in another thread it said if water is past 7 ft its hard to catch them and its at 8ft right now.

Thanks.

Haha yea the place usually has a couple people on it. That was on a wednesday. On Saturday it usually packed with about 30 trucks. Some walk in some take a boat. Had some guys hunting same area as I did no biggie but The pipeline is narrow so if your not ready with gun up you will miss and they usually sail off into the swamp as two of mine did. The first one you can see it fall in front of me about 40 yards past pipeline. You can hear the wings whistle before you see them usually.

Yea josh thats been another option....So iv come up with another plan in my head. Biloxi wma. Never been to it but looked all over google maps. Plan on going scout it in next weekend or so just to learn the routes mark some gps locations. I heard it is 100 percent accessible by outboard. However i dont wanna start running around in the middle and hit a mud flat. Are their mud flats. How deep is it on average in the middle. Also will be learning the tide around the area. If all that goes well we may just find a place where i can park the boat cover it with burlap and natural vegetation lets say on the south side of a marsh peninsula and walk to the other side and we would just sit low in the brush or bring the canoe and paddle. Opinions? Will also scout big branch and use as a back up location.

Sorry if this is repetitive. Never brought my boat yet in tidal zones and once again first year learning how to duck hunt on my own and not just going with my cousin to his walk in lease.

Haha no worries I didn't even realize you did. yea I just got word my friends parents will let us use their kayaks which are tan so I can easily brush hunt out of those with little effort to conceal it. He also has a pirogue i just found out i could pull behind the boat or something so our options just expanded. I may try out big branch never been their looking at many other options now as well. We may just paddle all the way. thinking it may just be easier all around then dealing with the boat. Now as far as permits go i looked it up is their a self check in station or is it just the ones you print out online sign and keep on you?

thanks for the response and i do like your set up. I would love to paint my boat but its not fully mine yet, and i think painting that boat may hurt the re sell value. I will be hunting with a friend who does have kayaks but i feel it will be a pain to bring two kayaks with us. Will most likely sticking with lots of burlap and natural vegetation. I can easily take trolling motor on and off and i added some driving lights as well to help me. Investing in pirogues is out of the budget right now as i am still in college. my friend does have two kayaks however may just forget the boat and find somewhere we can kayak that not extremely to far.

Okay thanks for the input i am in process of buying enough burlap to cover boat and drape over sides. will use palmettos or any natural vegetation to break it up. I plan on just laying down in the boat. i may make a blind out of pvc and the seat posts. Other question is teal usually like shallow water right. The spot i was looking at for teal season is around 4-5 feet and im assuming teal wont decoy in that deep of water really or maybe they will? So i went to look to go hunt maybe west of lake cataouatche or anywhere a little more south but i have never been their and the maps make it look muddy idk if its real shallow or just enough water i can get to a couple places and still be shallow enough for ducks.

Better yet if yall could tell me places to stay away from hunting in an outboard so i dont get stuck would help me select some scouting spots.

Thanks for help as yall can see im not very experienced in duck hunting.

Yea i can get there just fine as i wont be on the coast and yes i plane on using some palmettos and moss and sticks to break it up. Im sure ill get some funny looks tho rolling up to the boat launch opening morning with a bass tracker like boat and red carpet haha. oh well.

Yes we went froggin the other night and i saw a couple nice spots. i could get my boat in and out of the area pretty well. Just have to scout to see if their are birds closer towards season. Just have to buy a bunch of 12'x54 camp burlap drape over the side and carpet and over motor. maybe get some sticks put in the boat with me and park boat behind smll slit between land and tall grass.

Just wanted to see if it would work or still flare the ducks to badly.
