The “Gulf Artificial Habitat Fund”- An effect by the Louisiana Council of Underwater Dive Clubs that stands as the first line of defense in protecting and raising awareness of the removal of vital artificial reefs in the Gulf of Mexico and its associated devastation to the vibrant marine ecosystem.

William F. Crawford Memorial Scholarship Fund- Students awarded this scholarship in coastal engineering will have an opportunity to learn about our communities love for the coast while pursuing their own passion and education.

We are asking for sponsors and donations for our prize table at the rodeo. Your generous donation will help us to remain vigilant in our fight to preserve the viability of our sport fisheries and to insuring the continued ecologic stability of our coastal waters through research and stewardship.

We need your help!!!! Some of the best fishing spots in the world are disappearing over night!!!! I cant tell you how many times we have gone out to dive a set of rigs and found them missing since Obamas idle iron Policy was enacted after the BP oil Spill(if that wasnt bad enough!!). Its sickening to think of the habitat we've lost already but even more disturbing to think of what is still vulnerable!!! Please take a few minutes to express your concerns publicly at the link listed below. (you can view all the comments already sent in to give you an idea of what to say. It doesnt have to be long, but it desperately needs to be done ASAP!!!) This would go a long way in saving these reefs. Right now Open water and natural Reefs are considered EFH, but artificial Reefs including the oil platforms are not, despite every study ever performed declaring them as incredibly more productive. Scroll Down untill you see (Fixed Petroleum Platforms and Artificial Reefs as Essential Fish Habitat Options Paper) Scoping Documents & Proposed Amendments : Gulf of Mexico Fishery Management Council

Was any body else appalled to see the Times Picayune and NOLA.com using the dolphin that washed ashore with a bullet hole on Elmers island as another opportunity to bash Louisiana in a national spotlight. It was probably just a mistake when they failed to mention this area has been closed since hurricane Issac. Due to vast amounts of BP's Oil and corexit washing ashore. They definitely didnt bother to mention that Hundreds of dead and dying dolphins have been washing ashore up and down the gulf coast since the BP spill and its been almost impossible to find a link threw an autopsy. Was this a case of a Local walking along the closed beach checking out the oil spill and coming across a sick dolphin then deciding to put it out of its misery. who knows but the Times/Picayune would rather paint this into another every redneck in La with a gun is angry and has to kill something story then to shed a little more light into the complex nightmare BP's spill has gifted the Gulf states.rnrnhttp://www.wlf.louisiana.gov/news/35907 rnrnhttp://articles.orlandosentinel.com/2012-08-04/news/os-dolphin-deaths-oil-spill-20120804_1_dead-dolphins-graham-worthy-biggest-offshore-spillrnrn

They just want their article to grab national headlines so they can get more traffic to their website and charge more for their advertising. The scary part is Now that the Advocate has thier teeth in the Picayunes neck, there only going to become more an more desperate.
