Paul Harvey. 1965 radio show. I remember listening to him when all we had was a m radio. One single speaker in the dashboard.
Brilliant man.
And for the rest of the story.

A comment titled: poppincork in response to a report titled: New Article on Marine Formula Sta-Bil

I never read any reports on Sta-bil. Many years ago someone told me about using it for my weed eater. Never had one last me more than 2 years. I used the red colored Sta-bil because that was all I have ever seen at the store. I now have a 12 year old weed eater. Still starts on the 2nd or 3rd pull. And now all I use is the Marine formula.
Just got lucky with a good weed eater? Doubt it. All my lawn equipment is pretty old and all start easy and run good.
So this is just my experience with it. I thank that weed eater salesman every time it cranks up. :-)

I always use Sta-bil marine formula. I fill up 5 gallon gas cans with nonethanol gas and Sta-bil marine formula at the storage treatment of 1 ounce to fill up my boat, lawnmowers, generator and pressure washer and I never have had any fuel related problems with anything I own.
I have had fuel filter/water separators in every boat I have owned. Well worth the few dollars that they cost.

Great article Pete. Keep up the good work.

A comment titled: Landrieu response in response to a report titled: If you value your guns

February 15, 2013

Dear Mr. Fishtaxi:

In response to the tragic events that occurred in Newtown, Conn., Congress and the White House are currently considering ways to reduce gun violence in America. I strongly believe that we must find a way to reduce gun violence without infringing on the rights of honest Americans who abide by the law and own guns. My record on protecting citizens' Second Amendment rights is strong, as I voted in opposition to the 2004 assault weapons ban reinstatement and in favor of restoring Second Amendment rights in the District of Columbia, among other relevant votes.

As a centrist United States Senator, I do not decide my vote based on party line, or based on what party is in the White House. There are no simple solutions to this extremely complicated issue and I fully recognize that there are legitimate concerns on all sides. Please be assured that I will carefully review any and all related legislative measures with the will of the people of Louisiana in mind.

As your Senator, I rely heavily on the comments and concerns of my constituents when acting out my duties in Congress, and I appreciate your taking the time to contact me. I hope you will continue to contact me regarding matters of mutual concern. Please feel free to visit my website at http://landrieu.senate.gov for additional information on my legislative priorities.

With warm regards, I am

Sincerely,

Mary Landrieu
United States Senator

A comment titled: Vitters response in response to a report titled: If you value your guns

Dear Mr. Fishtaxi,

Thank you for contacting me to voice your opposition to new gun control laws in response to the recent school shootings in Connecticut and California. I appreciate hearing your views, and I agree with you.

In the wake of these tragedies, many in Washington are calling for increased restrictions on the right to keep and bear arms, arguing that it will help to reduce gun violence. For example, Senator Feinstein (D-CA) has announced plans to reintroduce a ban on assault weapons and to limit magazine capacity. Also, President Obama has signed 23 executive actions and has called on Congress to pass legislation, including background checks for all firearms sales. However, as many supporters of the Second Amendment have pointed out, increased restrictions do little to affect the actions of criminals, who by definition do not abide by the law. Instead, they restrict the rights of law-abiding Americans.

I am a firm believer and ardent supporter of the rights enshrined in the Second Amendment. This constitutional right, and our heritage of using firearms for sporting and self-defense purposes, does not have to be sacrificed to reduce gun-related violence. Instead, we should focus on enforcing the extensive laws already in place and turn our attention to more appropriate measures, such as increasing the safety of our schools and keeping guns out of the hands of those who may be mentally incapable of owning them responsibly.

Again, thank you for sharing your thoughts on this important issue. Please do not hesitate to contact me in the future about other issues important to you and your family.

New York Times column about these guys. Looks like a bunch of hijinks to me. It is an older one but still relevant.

Don't worry about me. I am not going to the basin to fish.

WLF doesnt always do things that make sense.

Numbers, graphs, charts can always be disputed by people but doesnt mean either way is right.

Noah's Ark has been disputed ever since the story was first written.
Check the figures in this video and someone will dispute them. Accuracy? Only good when shooting to kill.

what i think. But it seems to be what the biologist think. IMHO
I got that from reading the recommendation report for the basin.
http://www.wlf.louisiana.gov/sites/default/files/pdf/document/35987-atchafalaya-basin-lmb-technical-report-10-01-2012/atchafalaya_basin_lmb_technical_report_1o-01-2012.pdf

Maybe I am reading it wrong. Looks to me the biologist think less bass=more larger bass? Without expressly saying so.

A comment titled: Then in response to a report titled: Spillway Bass Limits

there may be something to the biologist reasoning for the no size limit. Since they are that easy to catch may mean there is too many. Might be why they are so slow growing. Too much competition for food.
Looks like what you guys are saying is making the case for the biologist argument.

Less bass+more food=larger bass
Which is what the biologist want the end product to be. Not you being able to catch bass as soon as you drop the trolling motor.

Trophy bass brings in more people in from out of state. You might find out that this all boils down to is money. I may be wrong.

CCR was a great band huh?

Or fortunate son. Fishdoctor, probably some connected kid cant catch fish over the 14'' rule and daddy made sure that WLF got the message that a change was needed. Or else.
I dont know if this is a fact or not but it seems that the rule is 10% of the fishermen catch 90% of the fish and 90% of the fishermen catch 10% of the fish. So 90% of the new fishermen yall think will show up when this no size rule is put in place wont catch much and wont return.
If you see any illegal activity there is a LADWF tips APP for your phone. You can send in pictures of illegal activity as well as text.
I think yalls worse case scenario isnt likely to happen. Whatever doesnt kill you will make you stronger or maybe better fishermen.

A comment titled: Quantity in response to a report titled: Spillway Bass Limits

Why do you want to catch 100's of bass a day? Not all the undersized bass you throw back are as in good of shape as when you caught it.
I catch a few fish and every trip some of those fish have been gill hooked, deep swallowed hooked, hooked through the eye socket. Something that keeps the fish from being the prime predator that he was before being caught.
Why do you have the need to catch and throw back that many bass?
Get an ultra lite and go for perch, goggle eye, sac-a-lait to feed your need to reel in something. Less harassment of the bass means more healthy bass.
