Message from Greg Lawson with the U. S Sportsmen's Alliance asking our help in contacting the U.S. Senators requesting they oppose the nomination of Cass R. Sunstein to head the Office of Information and Regulatory Affairs (OIRA).
Mr. Cass Sunstein has been quoted as saying, we might ban hunting altogether, at least if its sole purpose is human recreation as well as his discussions about offering animals the rights to sue humans.
Please take the time to contact the Louisiana Senators. He expects they will be voting on this next week. You can follow this link to get contact information.

I wanted to make sure to tell everyone Happy Easter. Even the rifle hunters, dog hunters, squirrel hunters, rabbit hunters, dove, duck, bow, hog hunters, and fisherman too. We all need to get along in the long run. If I forgot some groups sorry, in a hurry to help hide eggs for the kids. Cro
We will meet at the outdoor kitchen across from the gas plant at around 8AM on Saturday April the 18th to set up the course for who ever can help out. Someone will be cooking on the grill while we are setting up. We will be having a BSBA meeting on Saturday as well. The goal will be to have the meeting and eat for lunch. The meeting usually last around 2 hours. We could use as much help as possible to get set up if you can make it. We look forward to everyone coming out and have a great shoot. On Sunday the 19th the shoot please make sure to bring your appetite because we will be cooking on the grill and will have non alcoholic beverages to purchase with your food. If you have any questions please PM, email me or Dana Frey about any of the shoots.
Today was Austin's second BSBA Hog hunt at HogWild in Jennings, La. We started the day off with 70 degree weather and a cold front moving in with rain showers. We had 14 people on this hunt and everyone who brought their bow had a successful hunt. Here are a few pictures of Austin and his 2nd hog taken with a bow that weighed 50 pounds. It wasn't as big as the last one but still had a great time with the guys.
He had to use the back up mechanical broad head. RAN OUT OF MUZZY'S. LOL
A place like this is a great place to bring kids to let them use their equipment and you know they will see something. I know its a high fence and some people don't care for it but when your doing it for your kids it worth the money. I didn't even bring my bow with me because the day was for him.
The 17th annual BSBA Spring Fling Banquet and 3D Tournament will be on March 7,2009.In Alexandria La. If any of you have never been, mark your calendars now and plan to attend you will not be sorry. The 3D shoot has a California start of 8:00am-12:00 noon. This is a two 20 target range. And the banquet starts at 6pm til. Look forward to seeing everyone there.
Here is a picture of my god child Fisher. He has been after his uncle to catch him a hog. Well we caught 4 this weekend and he was so excited he wanted to help clean. I can't wait til he and is cousin Austin can clean the hogs too.
Just joined a new lease a few weeks ago and here are the first couple of pictures. I set out the Swampghost on a trail to see what was crossing by the stand. I am impressed with the deer travel and of course there is always hogs. LOL
I am wondering who has already let the cat out the bag about what you would like for father day? I have already told the wife a fletching jig and I will pick up all the other stuff to go with it. And maybe a few new arrows since I had to cut 6 of them for Austin's new bow to shoot.
Let us know if your not getting anything for hunting too. It doesn't have to be hunting related to make a post on the site.
The BSBA will be holding their 2008 BSBA 3D State Shoot on June 7th. The event will be held at the Fort Buhlow Recreation Area in Pineville, La.
You must be a member of the BSBA to shoot this event. You may join the BSBA at the time of registration prior to shooting.
This is a 3D event that supports various projects that the BSBA supports throughout the year..
On Saturday June 7th. at 8:00 AM the 3D shoot commences. All shooters have to be on the range and shooting by 12 noon and all scorecards shall be turned in by 4 PM.
There are concessions and novelty shoots to past the time between shooting and awards time.
Austin will be out there and hopefully show off his new Parker bow I bought for him 2 weeks ago. If anyone is planning to go send me email and we can try to meet up. CRO
Here is Austin's first hog with a bow. It was a 15 yard shot and the sow weighted 110#. It was a BSBA Annual Hog hunt and Austin had a great time. I want to thank all the BSBA members that invited us and attended. The group was able to harvest 17 hogs on Saturday.
Well Austin had a great weekend at the shoot. He had enough time to shoot in two categories. The weather was awesome and the course was set up perfect. I would like to see some of these guys bring there kids to shoot because the kids have a great time for sure.
I want to first thanks everyone with the BSBA and everyone involved in the shoot. We had a great time and everything looked great. The targets were set up great and it looked like everyone had a great time. There were tons of members from a few site that we met. Austin finished the day off with a score of 160 on the range and won 3rd place in his age group. There were a bunch of different targets from deer, bear, hogs, cheetahs, javelina, wart hogs, turkeys so we had a great selection of animals to shoot at. We are planning to make the Sherburne shoot so hopefully we can see a few more members.
I was wondering how many people were planning to make the BSBA 3D shoot this Sunday. My 9 yr old will be making his first shoot with his new bow. It should be a blast and the weather is looking good for the shoot.
I hope to see you there.Cro
Here is what my son wanted for his birthday so I was more than happy to get them.
I just joined up with BSBA after looking into what they stand for. I decided to join the organization and also signed up my son Austin. They do a lot for the state and bow hunting and that is what is important to me.The banquet started at 6:30 and it didn't end til after 12:00am and it was awesome. We had a great time and the guest speakers were 2 great hunters and people in my book. They are pro hunters and they have a new show coming out soon called DRIVEN. If you get a chance to look into the organization please do. You will not be disappointed. Here are a few pictures from the banquet and speakers.
