TRAIL CAMERA

Reply

I went to my local Wal-Mart today and seen they have a new trail camera (Wildgame Veiw I believe was the name brand). Has anyone had any experience with this one yet? It's a 1.3 megapixel and cost's $50 bucks. I know its alot better out there, but I need one to put in a risky area.

I would probably be worth it for the reason you want it(incase it gets stolen) however I bought one and its not water proof.I went to go check it after a rain and everything was rusted and corroded!

I went to the link you posted. That isn't the camera they have at Wal-Mart. The one they are currently selling looks to be a newer model. It looks similar to the Moultrie Game Spy, only more compact.

you will get exactly what you pay for! i bought 2 wild view cameras in a pack from academy last year for $80 and brought both back b/c they were crap!! go Moultrie's from Bass Pro and Cabelas. They been working pretty good. Not the best but they don't do bad for the price pd $80 a piece.

Some good, some trash
I bought 2 of them last year. One works great and I'm still using it today. The other one didn't last a month. I guess it is the luck of the draw.

I got one
I tihkn you mean the wilgame innovations timber view..I got one and I lovee it. Its a little aggravating to up, the buttons have to be hit repeatedly at times to make contact..But its a 50 dollar camera..the picutres are pretty dang good and the trigger speed is great...I tested mine and it caught me moving quickly plenty of times.I only put mine out a few times though..Also got a picture of a really nice buck the first night i put mine out..it was at night and is very clear..i can send it to you to check out if you would like..
So in all, its a little aggravating to use...but for 50 dollars you cant beat it

I got the 2 pack for $100 a few years ago. Pics are "good enough" but the battery life SUCKS. They last a max of 25 days. 14 days in high traffic areas.

Moultrie D40. Very good pics. Not expensive. Even videos if you want. Plenty of them at Academy. Check out my previous posts to see some pics. Economical, good quality, good battery life. Only complaint is that the time will be off by a couple hours after a month of pics. Can't figure that out. but still takes lots of good pics.

Anyone else had problems with this camera? Worked great for about 2 months, then flash stopped working right. Most of my night pics came out black.

luck of the draw
By seeing the other comments posted, it looks to be the luck of the draw. I have had the cheapest wildview camera that you can get and its lasted 3 years and still works. It stays in the woods from august - february

If you're going to use the Wildview it's best to buy the 12 volt sealed battery w/case and charger - $39 at Academy or $49 at Cabelas (IQ test). If that battery goes out (mine are 2 and 3 years old) you can pick up a replacement for ~$15. This beats the heck out of constantly changing the internal batteries.

I purchased one and put it out Friday. I went back Saturday and it snapped 35 pictures. I took one of a nice little 8pt at night about 28 feet away ! It seems to be well worth the money and if it only lasts a couple months I have already got my money's worth out of it ! Thanks everyone for the comments.

Guess It's Too Late
I wish I would've read this earlier, couldn't find any 6 volt batteries at Academy nor Walmart so I picked up one of these and some rechargeable "C" batteries this evening. Already set it up, guess I'll have to keep it. It's a lot smaller than my other camera's, hope it's worth it. I'll let you know in a couple of days. Didn't even check it out, terd better be water proof......just rained.
