I've got a question for ya'll. Does anyone happen to know what the Louisiana state record for sac-a-lait is? If not, is there a website I can go to to find this out?
Thanks

Well, technically
There are three categories. The "old" category did not differentiate between White and Black Crappie. The "new" records are 3.38lbs for white crappie and 3.55lbs for black crappie.

I am not sure how up to date the records are but you can check under FISHING RECORDS on the Louisiana Sportsman website.

6 lb sacalait
there has been some talk out there that the six pounder caught years ago in westwego canal was possibly a tripletail. Think it was caught within a couple of years after hurrican betsy. Would make sense because they look similar and no one would know far sure what a six ponder looks like . World record i believe on books is 5.3 pounds from Lake Enid in Mississippi caught about 50 years ago.

My grandmother used to tell me that the sac-a-lait was caught out of a farm pond, and when the people arrived to record the fish they claimed that they already had ate it. Not so sure how true this is but a fish weighing exactly 6lbs and no pic or mount to prove it is really hard to beieve.

that was 4 years after betsy......long time for a triple tail
to still be that far inland...

6lb. Sac-a-lait
FYI I read in the obituary today (3-21-07) that a woman named Lettie Robinson from Westwego has entered into eternal rest. She was 73 year old. It is probably her daughter which has the same first name that caught the 6 pounder. If I am not mistaken, I think the fish was caught in the Westwego Airport canal on a cane pole.

Re: Record Sac-a-lait
I am fairly certain the woman that died in 07 was the lady that caught the fish. It was not a triple tail.....
