Rigolets

Took my Pops fishing Saturday 9/22 in Lake Borgne. Rising tide all morning with stiff easterly winds building. Fished points and cuts along the western lake shore till we couldn't take the wind anymore. We were just shy of a two man limit of reds and also caught a nice flounder. Wanted to hit Lake Catherine and try our luck at some specs but as we headed there a big storm was building up right on top of us and decided to call it a day and head in.

We saw you guys out there, we had the 23' Chaparral with dark blue Biminy top. We also caught a couple reds, trout and FINALLY, after 12-15 trips a flounder in the small ditches along Rigolets. We hung in there and beat the big storms (full curtains) but didn't catch afterwards. Good signs of trout in route!

Hey Fishiac, I just started fishing the area this summer, still learning it. Been having good luck finding redfish. Trout have been sporadic, hoping that changes in the fall. Congrats on your flounder. I've been lucky enough to catch flounder each trip. They seem to like hanging out on a defined point next to any small drain, especially on falling tide. Berkeley Gulps under a cork have out fished any other bait for me, even live!!. Good luck, I'll look for the Chaparral next time we out there

PS: keep reports coming from the Rigolets/Lake Borgne

When the flounders are found around the Causeway, should be anyday now, hard to beat Chartreuse Berkley Gulp on 3/8 oz jighead jigged along the pilings and might sneak in a speck or two.Have been chasing elusive blue wing teal(thank God teal season mercifully ends this Sunday)and Lady P was a muddy mess on our way back from a teal hunt where my hunting buddy cashed in on the only shots we had(save for the shot each of us fired at blue rockets that blazed by before we had a decent chance at em!!!).Hard to beat Chartreuse Gulp for most any of our brackish species and specks gobble em up as well as nice reds.Hoping to get decent blast/cast going this Sat/Sun then concentrating on Bow Hunting til Regular Duck season opens in November!!Nice fish!!
