Teal Opener-Thoughts???

Not sure who has seen what but I have personally scouted the areas I plan to hunt(fish as often as time allows)and I have seen very few teal and noticed the next full moon will be towards the end of teal season and have been told that the major migration of teal typically occurs during a full moon so do not be displeased if your favorite area lacks teal this week end,be patient and hope for the best possibly closer to the end of this teal season.Have three diehards going this week end(might tag along a baitcaster to toss spinners at grass-bed reds)and hope to see at least a teal or two but would not be at all surprised if we are greeted with MT skies!!!

jjoojj,Smart, smart move-bass are in Lake P if dat tells ya anything, even with Tropical Storm Gordon having increased our local tides quite a bit.We have thick mats of salvinia think what happened is the spraying of giant salvinia selectively allowed much smaller salvinia to proliferate and I have seen ponds about wall-to-wall with salvinia, wish they could release some weevils,if they eat salvinia!!

Dat sounds about right, plenty of teal near mouth of River and I know a few folks that make the trek down to Venice to duck hunt/fish and hope the teal stick around.Got some intel from a diehard and he found some teal much closer to me and I am hopeful that we even see a teal Sat/Sun probably gonna chase shallow-water reds in our pirogues, always fun, fun, fun and the winds predicted are about as perfect as ya would want to fish NShorelines!!!

Thewizard7,Looks like ya are de 'Redfish Whisperer' like John C jokingly called me-by the way very fine reds, indeed.Buddy of mine went to place his blind in private Delacroix marsh just this past week end and he reported seeing zero teal, kinda hard to fathom dat de 'Croix' has no teal but ya gotta go to know and right now de only fishing I am doing is fishing for clients at a Humana Retail Location in Metairie, wishing I was a-fishing.I am hopeful that a few teal make their showing on NShore and if not, always got fine reds patrolling thick grass beds and might target em outta Chapman pirogues!!

We did not see any teal last weekend along the NShore. Fishing was slow so i paddled around some duck ponds. I will keep fishing until the end of the month and then make a blast and cast trip on the nshore.

Think the next full moon,on the 24th,might bring us some teal and possibly some aggressive redfish, hollier on da bayou!!Just fired up de trusty ole Southfork(Chuck Evans fixed lower unit-was not engaging reverse)and got carbs purring like dey used to when she was a much younger boat and can't believe teal season just few days away!!!Now we gots no excuses, other than crooked barrels, for our failure Opening WeekEnd!!!

Re: Teal Opener-Thoughts???
Our area of Delacroix had more teal 4-5 weeks ago then they had last weekend. Will be waiting for shooting time in my new blind that my dad and I built. Will also be filling out gator tags and chasing reds after the morning flight is over. Need to get these huge gators thinned out a little. Way too many gators these days!!! Good luck to all this weekend.
