Bull Red on 12# mono!

Reply

I started out my day looking for Jacks in Lake Pontchartrain. I had my big reel spooled with 60# braid and a live target popper. Not that I was expecting any trout, I also brought along my little trout rig spooled with 20# braid, a 12# mono leader and a mambo mullet.

After about 2 hours of seeing plenty of mullet and bait, I didn’t see any signs of the Jacks. I decided to call it a trip and started making my way back. While heading in, I tossed out the trout rig then all hell broke loose!

blackfishmatt,Awesome footage and I have had plenty of fun, though not lately, getting Cajun Sleigh Rides sitting in my Chapman pirogue while a red of over 36 inches towed me all around.Great job not having him break off using those Pilings. The Causeway reds, that size, are more than a challenge at keeping away from pilings!!Did you get a chance to measure him, tough to tell via video.I had one about a year ago, exceeding 36 inches and had a smallish chest and next day had big 94 qt chest and had one that measured abut the length of the chest!!Nice Cajun Sleigh ride, indeed!!!

Thanks! He was 35'. Yeah trying to keep him away from the pilings was tough. I kept telling myself the whole time that if he didn't snap that 12# mono leader he was gonna wrap a pile and that would be it. Luck also helps!
