Spillway Report

Tried Spillway this morn around 30 inch Canal close to Adams Landing, Bayou Long and Bayou Mallet/Old River area. Was surprised to see the area was completely void of the grass beds that protrude from the shorelines! It is these grass lines/isolated clumps of grass that typically hold the forage and in turn the sac a lait. At this water level (around 3.5 at Morgan City) I would typically be loading up on sacs and today I struggled to get 16 by 3:00. Are you guys seeing the grass beds in other areas of the Spillway? Is this a consequence of the snow this winter because I pray it is not the dreaded apple snails. The salvinia certainly survived the winter.

Re: Spillway Report
I fished it yesterday for the first time in a few years. Was very shocked to not find a single blade of grass. Only managed to catch 5 fish. Same areas you fished..... I was really disappointed What happen to the grass?

Fished Jack Miller's Sunday. No grass. Saw more apple snail eggs attached to trees than I have ever seen. They were everywhere. Some trees had 8-10 clusters on them. I didn't realize what they were until after I got home and WAFB did a short piece about them on the 6:00 news. Haven't seen any grass in Verret either, now that I think about it.
