No Fish

My wife and I made the trip down to Boudreaux's Thursday night the 17th and fished Friday and Saturday. We did not catch a trout. I thought my previous trip a few weeks earlier was the worst trip in the 19 years that i have been fishing the Leeville area. 7 trout and 2 reds. This trip the west side had terrible water found decent water on the east side of Philo, no fish. At least a half dozen boats in sight and saw no one put a fish in the boat. We moved to the east side on LA 1 and found much better water, still no fish. Saturday morning we straight to the east side pretty water and caught 1 white trout. Several other boats in sight and didn't see a fish put in the boat. I made my mind up I will never go to Leeville again when there is any type of west wind, which was the case for my 2 recent trips. I fished live shrimp and my wife had her favorite VooDu. I am really confused and any advice would be appreciated.

My father and Uncle fished Leeville Lake Raccourci on the 14th, 15th and 16th and put 140 specks on the cleaning table. I'm not sure what their weather was compared to your trip on the 18th and 19th. It was a Monday thru Wednesday so I'm sure it was better weather than a Friday and Saturday...The fish are there though. They used live shrimp and cocahoes mainly on the bottom.

Re: No Fish
SW wind started to blow on Thursday. And continued through the weekend. I had exactly the same results in the Hopedale area. Guys were crushing the trout M-W and then the weekend warriors hit off conditions and low catches. Any kind of Westerly influence is dismal for areas East of the River. I knew that going into the trip, but it was my only opp to hit the water. So, I went and as usual; I was sorely disappointed with my catch. Damn west wind!

West-southwest winds can mess that area up, unless it is very light.

Had the same result in Hopedale over the same time period. Caught 2 sheephead and hooked into a 10 foot gator.
Thought it was a large gar until it surfaced by my 17 ft. BlueWave. Yep... that is one BAD day of fishing.

i was at fouchon and same results as you but got three trout all weekend. The south west wind killed the bite. It sucks when you travel five hours to fish and bamm the water is muddy everywhere. I quess thats fishing.

Folks, Thanks so much for the comments. I am not a great fisherman by any stretch of the imagination but generally if Boudreaux's has a packed house we are generally in the top 20%. Just 2 bad trips this year makes the price of specs per pound through the roof. I will try again next month probably during the week. I will post results when we have a successful trip.
