Lake Verret

Went to Lake Verret April 3. Caught a few catfish on night crawlers. Water was high. Put in at Adams landing and the water was 1.5 inches below the top of the pier. Belle River water was clear. Lake Verret water color was clear greeng and not muddy. It was streaked with what looked like pollenn or algie along the south bank. Crackerhead water was clear coffee colored. Did not see any caterpillars in the trees yet. Didn’t stay long after a 15-20 mph wind picked up.

Thanks for the report. I've been wondering about the water height and quality. I may head out there this weekend, dodging the rain, of course.

Re: Lake Verret
Went to Lake Verret yesterday. Stiff wind was blowing out of the south at about 10mph which made fishing either side of the lake difficult. Caught 11 nice cats overall. Caught most on rod/reel and some on noodles using night crawlers. Water is still somewhat high but the lake looked beautiful green and Pierre Part Bay was coffee colored.

Update for Friday the 13th. Caught another mess of catfish on the south side of the lake. The water was clear green, but with surface trash. I was surprised by a 70 degree surface temp when last week it was 74 degrees. Bell River was muddy, but had dropped to about 5 inches below the dock.
