We are looking at a lease west of Port Sulphur, what can we expect from that area?

I have never hunted south Louisiana so any advice would be great.

I fished and hunted that area this season and mainly just seen dogris. All the puddle ducks and other divers seemed to be east in the fresh water. Salt and brackish are getting less ducks each year from my observations.

Thank you for the response. Are there enough dogris around to hunt or are the numbers small? How is the red fishing?

A friend of mine has 7,500 acres leased for sub leasing in the area. He charges a fair lease rate and it is a first come to the pond gets to hunt it situation. Not sure what they are charging but this is his name and number. John 504 481 8816. Not sure how the hunting season was there. Decades ago use to be great.

second the redfish marsh fishing in that entire area is always good. When fall comes trout fishing is good too.

Anyone wanting all the Dos Gris they can legally shoot can avoid a lease fee and quite simply hunt the Lake Pontchartrain shoreline and add in some bonus buffleheads with the possible appearance of some trophy canvasbacks. We see tons of Dos gris, avoid them unless it is the last day and pretty much shoot very few even on the last day and a few days during the Regular Season.
