Power Pole vs Talon

Reply

Trying to decide whether to buy a Power Pole or Talon for my 20' SeaFox center console boat. I mainly fish out of Delacroix and every now and again Hopedale. I would like to get some Feedback from owners of each to see which one to install. Thanks in advance!

A few months ago I was trying to decide the same thing. Instead I decided to buy a the new trolling motors instead . I just installed it and not sure how good it will work yet. There is a anchor button on the remote which is suppose to keep you within 5 feet of a circle when engaged. It also holds specific trails and locations . Good luck

I’ve owned both. Power pole for sure. If you can get 2. You’ll be very pleased. If you get 1 you’ll love it for 2 months but when the winds pick up you’ll wish you got 2. I always found the Talon couldn’t hold my boat well over oysters and that made noise which spooks the fish. Good luck and tight lines.

Jkelsey: Did your Talon fail to hold your boat well over oysters all the time or only in certain wind and water depth & movement conditions? What model year Talon did you have?

Re: Power Pole vs Talon
I had the 12’ model purchased in 2015. It held fine in perfect conditions but if it was windy I would struggle. Even worse is if there is some wave action. I also had the ipilot trolling motor with spotlock. It worked well but I found in windy conditions it would struggle as well. It will also spook the fish, especially in shallow water. Now I have twin 8’ power poles with the Ulterra trolling motor. I’ve guided all year with this set up and haven’t regretted it.

Thanks Guys, Looks like the Power Pole is the preferred anchor for all conditions.

Suggest you have along a 'Manual Powerpole = Cajun Anchor' to assist with boat positioning and AS A BACKUP!!! John C.
