I can’t go to the camp this saturday due to prior plans so I’m making a hunt on big branch can anyone point in the right direction to go scout on Friday and where the majority of the birds have been more by lacombe or by Slidell and closer to the lake or further north thanks

I spend a good bit of time bumping around in Big Branch although not a duck hunter. People I have talked to have found a few in the ponds off of Lake Rd. Several of the areas are leased so make sure you are on WMA 'land'. The no motor canal seems to be it or miss with lots of traffic. Hope this helps....further back in there ya get the better like any public land hunt for anything. Use google earth and find ya a spot and get there EARLY!!

Second what Quadfather4 stated-ducks are getting plenty pressured and this refuge holds some quality ducks,ya just gotta get out and scout, scout, scout some more and if ya got mid-week off, much less pressure during the week vs week ends.I am a die-hard that knows that marsh quite well and if there is one bit of sage advice I could give ya,it would be to try ya best to stay late, probably past 10:30 as I have seen ducks pattern hunters vs the other way around and staying late sometimes is essential.Good luck out there, keep scouting and eventually ya gonna find some pockets that hold good ducks, trust me!!
