Great Thanksgiving

I took my 7 year old grandson on a Thanksgiving hunting trip. Last year at Thanksgiving he took his first shot at a deer ever, at 6 years old he killed nice 8 pt 181 lbs. His goal this year was another big buck or big doe would be great! After being rained out on the first evening hunt we went to a food plot the next morning. 8:30 a deer came out broad side at 100 yards, good bodied deer. He shot the deer and dropped in its tracks. Surprised to see the deer had 1' horn on opposite side he shot on, 140 lbs. he was a little disappointed he didn't get a doe. We returned a couple hunts later and he got his doe aka (skillet head) 120 lbs dropped in her tracks. 3 shots 3 deer. We asked a biologist about the buck and genetics, he thought it was a late drop 1-1/2 year old. He said a late drop all nutrition goes to the body and not the antlers. Great Thanksgiving, Thanks RT
