Where to fish????

Reply

Looking at taking about a week off of work and do nothing but fish. I want to try new places I haven't been before and challenge myself to try something new. I know I want to hit the Bayou Sorrel/Pigeon area (been there but not much experience) along with Henderson. Anyone got suggestions within an hr or so from the Port Allen area?

Bayou Black, Wax Lake, Old River or False River. With the draw down on False River, the fish should be concentrated to a smaller area. Are you MAN enough for the challenge, lol.

You can fish lakes and ponds from a shore or from a boat. You can fish in shallow or deep water, in open water, or near structure/cover. Depending on the lake or pond you are fishing, you can catch fish species like largemouth and smallmouth bass, pike, pickerel, walleye, perch, sunfish, rock bass, and trout.

Talking in code:
largemouth - Big bass
smallmouth - Small largemouth,
pike - garfish
pickerel - different garfish
walleye - no idea
perch, sunfish - we got them
rock bass - goggle eye
trout - not big on inshore/salt water fishing

I appreciate the info though. I went a few different places. Henderson (twice), The Basin @ Bell River, Little Alabama. Do better than I thought considering when I went it was right after a cool front and it was bluebird skies all 4 days i went.

LOL, that's a stretch. Perch and sunfish are 2 different species in the northern part of the country. Where here, they are 1 and the same. At least by way of what people call them. Perch are yellow perch and sunfish are bream. I wish we could catch yellow perch down here, I hear they are great to eat.

Also, check out Jack Miller's. Easy to learn and not effected by the rise and fall of the Mississippi River.

Yeah I’ve been through pat bay and superior canal back there. Just not a fan of that particular launch. Also not a fan of the gravel road going back to grand river landing. I’m just waiting for a newer faster boat to hit the spillway hard.

Try Verret. You can put in at Pierre Part Bay and not deal with the lake. You can also use Attakapas but it is open to wind and waves. Doirons is another good place, both behind the store and the car wash.
