Big enough bay boat

I am in the market for a bay boat. I am an avid inshore fisherman, but I am wondering what size min. would take to sneak offshore on the 'perfect day' to catch a snapper or two --THANKS!?

24 ft. I wouldn't feel comfortable going more than a mile offshore in anything less.

Re: Big enough bay boat
i used to take my 19 ft baystealth offshore up to 10 miles all the time mainly during the summers for snapper. had to have calm seas though. Less than 2 ft. with any bayboat u have to be selective with your days. Most of the days we dont plan offshore until we get to the end of the jetties. The boats can take it. it was self bailing so any water coming in just flowed out. The passengers not so much in high seas.

Went out 32 miles yesterday in my Triton 22LTS cursing at 32 mph with a light chop, just keep in mind all bay boots are not going to perform the same, a heavier boat will ride much better than a lighter boat.

I take my Triton 22LTS out 30 miles to the rigs for Snapper. Preferably following another bigger buddy boat just in case something goes wrong. Triton has one of the deepest v-hulls you can get in a bay boat but I would not take a 15k boat offshore. It's critical that you have a reliable motor. Most radios can't reach people to rescue you in time, cell phones are spotty. You can't walk home.
