Looking for some new spots

Reply

Been bass fishing NOLA City Park and all the canals around the city but I've been wanting to find some new spots. I'll be borrowing a kayak from a friend of mine next week and I'm looking to try some new water. Thought about giving Bayou Sauvage a shot. I know I can go down to Delacroix and probably catch a few but I was trying to stay a little closer to the city. Any suggestions?

go to the Norco Spillway off airline highway and try some of the many ponds..........I have buddies that fish those ponds and catch a lot of nice bass.............

If you decide to fish the spillway you can go to their office on River Road on Norco side of spillway and get pamphlets and maps of ponds and roads in spillway. Because of condition of dirt roads some ponds are more accessible than others especially after rainy periods. Some areas require 4 wheel drive rain or not due to ruts caused by people mud riding. If by chance or (like me poor decision) you get stuck there are usually enough people riding around you can get help getting out. Having your own tow rope or chain increases your odds of getting a yes when asking for help.
