The age old question --- most detailed map for the SE Louisiana Marsh (specifically Delacroix)

I need to replace my GPS, and the maps are more critical to me than than the unit. I'll likely purchase Garmin, Lowrance, or Humminbird, but want to base my purchase on the maps. I don't need special sonar imaging features. As you've pointed out many times, the base maps lack detail, and the best maps for the marsh are based on USGS topographical data. Some of the previous posted information appears to be no longer relevant due to changes from the vendors. Could you provide some guidance on current information as to which maps are top tier? (e.g. Garmin Lake Ultra Vs Lowrance maps versus standard maps vs whatever)

Thanks bayouboy.

I see that Captain Paul posted information about the Garmin TOPO US 24K Southeast. Is anyone using this software? Does it provide all the bayou and lake names? Does is show all the pipelines and routes you travel?

standard mapping is the best hands down ! they make cards that go into Lowrance HDS units and also their paper maps or really good also

Thanks, Red Alert. It's also a map I'm highly considering. It seems to provide the detail I need. I couldn't find the scale on the ecard. The Garmin TOPO is 1:24k, so I was hoping for a comparison. I'll keep searching and hope someone replies, but the standard ecard may be my best solution.

I have been running Lowrance and Simrad units with Navionics Platinum Plus cards for the last few years. They are very good. Just switched to the Legend cards and am very pleased with the imagery. Worth a look if you plan to use Navico units - Lowrance & Simrad. See http://www.legendcartography.com
Good luck.
