Demo'ed Tiburon boat

I had the pleasure this weekend to demo a boat I've been eyeing since it's inception. All I can say is it did not let me down. Every claim was delivered. Boat ran very shallow. At one area around 3'. It handled rough water very well and dry. At 22' the boat ran just under 50 MPH but since the motor was still in a break in period really couldn't trim it all the way out. That was with a Suzuki DF200. I have not seen many shallow running boats over here with the exception of air boats and aluminum boats rigged with gator tails. The fit and finish of this boat was very impressive. The hatches all sealed to keep the elements out and your belongings high and dry. So you ask what application does a boat like this have in South La. Well I like being able to push back into shallow ponds or fish flats off deep canals where redfish like to hang out. With a Bay boat unless the pond is deep you are not likely to be able to do it. I also like being able to take off across Lake Pelto and fishing the barrier islands. This boat does both quite well. If you like fishing shallow water but also like hitting the open water to I highly recommend you take a ride in this boat and see for yourself.

Everything was well though out in this boat from the main storage spaces to the nooks and crannies for small items. The space it very well utilized. If you have not run a tunnel boat for shallow water fishing you're in for a treat and you don't have to give up open water to do it.

Give Jeff at Tiburon a call and line up a ride you won't be disappointed. 361-944-8970

Interesting boat. What type of bottom on the hull, looks like a cat?

It's not a cat. About as close as I can describe it is it is kind of a tri hull tunnel. It picks up water from the front and channels it back into a main tunnel that feeds high volumes of water to the lower unit. Also provides lift to get unbelievable shallow water performance. I currently run a cat hull but this boat will run circles around mine. Top end speed, dry soft ride in chop, shallow water hole shot and skinny running. 1st boat that I've been in that delivered really well in all categories Most of the time there is a significant trade off. Not with this one. The boat was engineered from the start by an engineer that retired from Lockheed martin. He took his knowledge of air and water flow characteristics and applied it to a super efficient boat hull. Check out their website at Tiburon.com or give Jeff a call. He's a super nice guy and will give you the skinny on his boat. I've been looking for a shallow drafting boat that I can get up on step in shallow water. I want to run close to 50 mph and still hit the barrier islands when I want to, not when the wind lays down enough to cross as well as run a little off shore. I'm pretty sure I've found a boat that I can do all this in. Give him a call, if you like that kind of fishing too you won't be sorry for checking into it.
