Lake Decade Submerged Object

Boaters beware, I hit a submerged object in Lake Decade. I was across Lake Decade running approximately 100-150 yards off of the rock jetties past the Cajun Bahama's. I was almost or at the end of the Jetties when I struck what appears to be a solid metal object under the water. I know there used to be a well head in this approximate area that has been removed. Has anyone else hit this object before? As there is a ton of boat traffic in this area. I want to send a special thanks to everyone at Southern Outdoors Marine in Thibodaux for getting my boat fixed ASAP. Excellent customer service, and they sell the best boats on the market!! Go check them out.

Thanks
Thanks Captain. I was wondering if there was any debris left over after they removed the wellhead. Sorry you had problems, thanks for helping the rest of us out.

Coordinates
Well I finally had some time yesterday after scouting/catching to run over to Decade to find the submerged object I hit back in October. Looking at Sonar it appears to be a pipe sticking up from the bottom. Approx 5 ft of water and it seems the object is about 2 feet below the surface. My prop actually hit it while idling looking for it.

It is almost 100 yards off the bank at the end of the rock jetties right past the Cajun Bahamas. Be careful if your in that area.

Underwater Pipe
Capt Marty,

Do you know if this pipe is marked with anything or is it still hidden? I was in the area Friday and did not see any poles sticking out the water in that area. Thanks with any help on this.

Underwater obstruction
I'm going fishing there tomorrow and if someone will give me the gps coordinates I'll drive a piece of pvc in the mud next to it. May save someone some damage or worse.

Any reports on what the trout are doing?

No Marker
Nothing is marking the spot. I did not have any pipes with me when I went to look for it. GPS coordinate are above in previous comment. Be careful.

It would seem the DWF would take it out due to safety, but they wouldn't know who to charge do I guess that's too much to ask

Re: Lake Decade Submerged Object
Found out it was Apache that plugged the well in 2010 and records show it was cut 15 inches below the mud line. Obviously the pipe was still sticking up a good 3 ft from the bottom when I hit it in 2012. I wonder how many other people have hit it since then.

Not that I know of. No.

Hopefully Apache will take note and take care of the problem before they get presented with a law suit. Someone could really get hurt from this.

Unfortunately I know what it feels like to hit a submerged object. Have to be careful out there since things that were once on land are no longer there due to the massive loss of our precious lands.

Ran across some kids this past summer , at night that had hit it with a bass boat and sunk their boat. Hard to believe Coast Guard are someone hasnt removed.

Wow. Apache could have some major law suits on their hands. Sure hope they get wind of it and eliminate the problem.
