Miller's Lake

Can anyone tell me about Miller's lake? I hear that there is some kinda lease on the lake and it may not be open to public or something to that effect. I recently read the article in the sportsman about it and have known for years about it, but never went over there to fish it. any info on this lake would be greatly appreciated as for my regular Toledo bend spots are getting filled by more and more boats as the weather gets warmer and I was wanting to just try out different options.

Millers
it is 2 or 3 dollars to launch for the public but the lake is closed during duck season and used as a hunting lease any other time it is open

nice lake
its shallow, and very clear water, no use to fish on a sunny day, they'll see ya.. but it's a good sacalait and bass lake on overcast days.

Miller's Lake
i am from ville platte and a member of the hunting club. it is a 100 man duck only hunting club. there are no leases. there is a drawing every morning in which the hunters blindly pick a numbered "pill" and then takes turns in picking the blind that they want to hunt that morning.

the lake and surrounding land is owned by a family, but the lake is open to the public. the only time it is closed is during duck season. it is costs $3 to launch off the ville platte ramp and free at the pine prarie landing.

the lake is shallow and super grassy. the bass are spead out anywhere and everywhere about the lake so it doesn't matter where you fish in the as long as it is overcast or if there is a light wind blowing.

a fluke and black/redmetal worm are the only baits you need

Miller's Lake, Boat launch
I get the understanding that the lake is shallow. Can I launch an 18ft glass w/150 on it, or would that be to big? I have a smaller boat, 15ft w/25 mercury on it, if that would be better.

MILLERS
Go with the 15 ft if the water is high its ok to bring that big boat but the water can change when the are pumping out and the landing is bad to back that big boat in when the water goes down.It does not extend that far in the water and if you back off the edge of the ramp not good.By the way listen to wahat the others said cloudy days or a wind blowing otherwise a long day of fishing TOUGH PLACE TO FISH but has some quality bream sac a lait and bass

Re: Miller's Lake
Can you fish at millers lake landing near ville platte, louisiana in a 14 foot flatboat with a 15 h.p. outboard or does the lake get too rough? Also, what is the limit for crappie, that you can keep? I have a 20 southfork flat with a 90 h.p. outboard, but I think it would be too big to launch there.

Re: Miller's Lake
yes, you can fish it with a 14' with a 15hp but it's wide open, i wouldn't attempt it on a big wind. Especially not a big north. A big south the launch blocks so you could fish camps and rozos in front of them(and all of south bank, north side would be rough)
