Rivoire Jr., Cahanin written up after anonymous tip for Henderson gator, LDWF says
Enforcement agents with the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries cited two men Monday in connection with alleged alligator hunting violations, according to a press release.
Acting on an anonymous tip, agents cited Todd Rivoire Jr., 20, of Youngsville, and Colt Cahanin, 22, of Breaux Bridge, for taking an alligator during a closed season and intentional concealment of illegally taken wildlife.
Agents were able to make contact with the two men at Rivoire’s father’s house in Breaux Bridge, where agents found a dead 8-foot alligator hidden in the woods, the release states.
The open season for alligators in this area generally begins on the first Wednesday of September and runs for 30 days.
Taking an alligator during a closed season brings a $400 to $950 fine and up to 120 days in jail. Intentional concealment of illegally taken wildlife brings a $900 to $950 fine and up to 120 days in jail, the release states.
