Jesuit’s Blue Jay Fishing Rodeo set for June 26-27

Festivities, weigh-in will be held June 27 in Wally Pontiff Jr. Pavilion at John Ryan Stadium

Registration will be open until noon on Wednesday, June 24 for the 23rd Jesuit Blue Jay Fishing Rodeo, highlighted this year by three of the top speckled trout anglers in the state participating in the weigh-in festivities at John Ryan Stadium in Metairie.

Chink Sumas, Dr. Bob Weiss and Dudley Vandenborre, the creator of Deadly Dudley’s artificial lures, will be on hand at the Wally Pontiff Jr. Pavilion on Saturday, June 27. Weigh-in begins at 2:30, and the scales close at 4 p.m.

Rodeo participants can begin fishing on Friday, June 26 at 6 a.m. – there are no territorial limitations on where to fish. The entry fee is $40 per adult, and $25 for ages 18 and under.

Registration includes one Blue Jay Rodeo T-shirt, a fishing towel, food, beverages and the chance to win a fishing trip for three with Capt. Eric Dumas.

Categories include five-fish trout stringer, biggest fish of any species, bass, flounder, drum, sheepshead, speckled trout, redfish and red snapper.
