Chili’s holds statewide benefit Tuesday for LDWF agent shot near Monroe

Ten percent of sales will benefit Sgt. Scott Bullitt with accompanying flyer

Chili’s restaurants across Louisiana will be hosting a fundraiser tomorrow, June 16, for the game warden shot in the back last month during a traffic stop on Russell Sage WMA.

Ten percent of total sales from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. on Tuesday will benefit the Sgt. Scott Bullitt Recovery Fund when you present a hard copy of the accompanying flyer, or an electronic copy on your cellphone or tablet.

Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries spokesman Adam Einck said in an email that many locations also would honor the fundraiser if you simply mentioned it during your order.

Bullitt, of Jonesboro, was shot in the back on May 21 near the Wham Break boat launch during a traffic stop. According to an affidavit of probable cause filed in Ouachita Parish, Luke Jarrod Hust, 29, of Monroe, confessed to the shooting because he was a convicted felon and did not want to be caught in possession of a firearm.

The Louisiana Wildlife Agents Association organized the fundraiser, which will be used to assist with Bullitt’s medical and rehab bills.

If you want to help but can’t make it to Chili’s tomorrow, the LWAA also has set up a donation account for Bullitt and his family through Capital One. The account number is 2082509472 and is listed under the Louisiana Wildlife Agents Association, and can be accessed through any branch location.

Checks can also be mailed directly to:
