Shot selection

Swamp rabbits are larger than their upland cousins, and the habitat they reside in is some of the toughest terrain you’ll ever walk and hunt in.

As a result, swamp rabbit hunters should pack some high-brass ammunition.

The author’s preferred shot size for swampers is No. 6, which not only is large enough to knock down underbrush to score enough hits on a fleeing rabbit but is small enough not to damage meat like larger shot sizes.
