Canizaro convicted of selling deer and squirrel meat in Desoto and Bossier parishes
A 30-year-old Mansfield man was recently convicted in both Desoto and Bossier parishes for selling deer and squirrel meat to an undercover enforcement agent, resulting in more than $6,000 in civil restitution, fines and court costs.
According to a press release from the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries, Frank Canizaro Jr. was convicted in Bossier Parish on Sept. 26 for selling deer meat and failing to comply with deer tagging or harvest record requirements. In that case, he was fined $839, has to pay $692 in court costs and $4,069 in civil restitution, and lost all hunting privileges for one year.
Canizaro also was convicted in Desoto Parish on Oct. 3 for selling deer meat, selling squirrel meat and failing to comply with deer tagging or harvest record requirements. In that case, he was fined $500 and received six months probation, according to the release.
LDWF enforcement agents received a complaint about Canizaro selling squirrels and deer in 2016. An undercover LDWF agent made contact with him in November of that year, and purchased deer and squirrel meat in both Desoto and Bossier parishes, the release states.
