Fish go crazy as sun sinks into horizon.
So far, the late summer and early fall season has proven to be one of the oddest in years in South Louisiana. The weather is unseasonably hot, with the area absolutely destroying high-temperature records many days.
Because of that, anglers might think the annual migration of speckled trout into inside waters would be later than normal, but actually, the opposite has been the case. Specks are in fringe areas in higher numbers than many anglers have ever seen in the month of September.
Fortunately, I’ve been getting in on the fun, and I definitely do in this latest episode, but I had to punt on my initial plans to make it happen.
Using shrimp creole-colored Matrix Shads on Deathgrip Jigheads fished under Versamaxx Bolt corks, my son, Joel, and I put plenty fish in the boat for a weekend family fish fry.
