LeBleu Settlement man dies on Calcasieu River

Victim was baiting a trotline when he fell overboad, LDWF says

A 24-year-old LeBleu Settlement man died Monday night after falling overboard while baiting a trotline in the east fork of the Calcasieu River, according to the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries.

Authorities recovered the body of Lucas Marcantel about 10 p.m. on Monday. Agents were alerted that he went overboard around 7:50 p.m., according to a news release.

The other occupant of the 15-foot vessel said Marcantel, who was not personal flotation device, was baiting a trotline when he fell over and did not resurface, the release states.
