When he’s not touring the United States on the Bassmaster Elite Series, pro angler and Gonzales resident Greg Hackney is the host of Louisiana Sportsman’s Sportsman TV — a gig that allows Hack to broaden his horizons in the outdoor world, and have a lot of fun doing it.
“We pretty much do a little bit of everything from redfishing, to trout fishing, to duck hunting and even catching catfish,” Hackney said. “There’s really nothing that’s safe when Sportsman TV gets to rolling.”
The show, soon to begin filming it’s sixth season with Hackney as host, has recently been picked up by Carbon TV, the internet’s leading website for outdoor shows. With the recent release of Season 5 online, Hackney is excited to hear the feedback from fans.
“We covered a fun range of stuff in Season 5 and the folks seem to love it,” he said. “We started out with bass fishing as we normally do, but we threw in a few different episodes like hoop netting for catfish and fishing for sac-a-lait in a Gator Tail.”
The goal of Sportsman TV is always to be informative and entertaining. Both of these elements can be seen throughout Season 5, as Hackney traveled the state working with charter captains and hunting guides —and even brought his own bass-catching expertise to the show.
Another key ingredient to the success of the series is the abundance of fish and wildlife right here in Louisiana.
”Our state has so much to offer for the sportsman, and that’s who we make this show for,” he said. “The guys and gals that hunt and fish all year long.”
