Two fish per person limit; season will run until further notice, LDWF says
The recreational season for red snapper in Louisiana state waters will begin on Wednesday, Feb. 1 and continue until further notice, according to the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries.
The season will run seven days per week, with a daily bag and possession limit of two fish per person and a 16-inch minimum total length.
Louisiana’s state waters currently extend out to 9 nautical miles for fishery management purposes.
The LDWF reminds anglers that a Recreational Offshore Landing Permit is required to possess certain species, including red snapper. You can obtain or renew a permit free of charge by clicking here, but a valid Louisiana fishing license number is required to obtain a permit.
