Are Google coordinates accurate?
November 2008
Dear Capt. Paul:

I like to find potential spots on Google Earth. I have heard that the coordinates from Google Earth can be off a good bit from what a GPS unit says if you are not using the right datum.

How good is the fishing out of Lafitte this time of year? It’s pretty darn good. Just ask Capt. Poncho, Capt. Theophile Bourgeois and radio/TV personality Don Dubuc, who had their hands full of reds during a recent trip. Salty hotspots abound out of Lafitte
October 2008
Dear Capt. Paul:

What are some good redfish spots in and around Lafitte?

Also do you know of any good trout spots in and around Lafitte?

Thanks,

Glenn Arnold

There are several artificial reefs on Calcasieu Lake that hold speckled trout this time of year. Where are Big Lake’s reef hotspots?
September 2008
Dear Capt. Paul:

Can you give me any coordinates for reefs in Big Lake? I’ve only been fishing there a short amount of time and I only seem to catch trout when the birds are working. I would like to be able to catch trout anytime.

Thanks,

Chris Comeaux

Several of the rigs within an easy run’s distance of Grand Isle produce mangrove snapper, like these landed by Allen Lottinger Jr. and Tony Taylor during a Fourth of July weekend trip. Which rigs produce off Grand Isle?
August 2008
Dear Capt. Paul:

How far is it from Sand Dollar Marina to the Grand Isle 40 Block? Also do you know of any other rigs near Grand Isle that produce well?

Thanks,
Douglas Schilling

Though it’s been brutally battered by recent hurricanes, Breton Island still delivers the goods. Capt. Scott Avanzino put his son Kenneth on this healthy stringer of trout there during a recent trip. How do I get to Breton, Central?
July 2008
Dear Capt. Paul:

I would like to get GPS coordinates for Central and Breton Island. If it makes a difference, we usually launch at Breton Sound Marina.

Thank you,

Rene Pfefferle

The Vermilion Bay area will begin producing big trout again as soon as the Atchafalaya River recedes. Where is new reef at Redfish Point?
April 2008
Dear Capt. Paul:

I'm looking for the cordinates to the new or referbished reef that is at or around Redfish Point in Vermilion Bay.

There isn’t much left to Curlew Island, but it still attracts speckled trout in the spring and summer. Reader looks for Chandeleur remnants
