The newest wave of artificial lures has taken the fishing world by storm within the past few months.
YUM Bait Co. is glad to be in the middle of the tempest created by the introduction of multi-armed, literally and figuratively, umbrella rigs. Look at one, and you’ll see what looks like a spinnerbait head with five wires attached to the back of it, each ending with a barrel swivel and a snap swivel to affix a soft plastic of some sort imbedded on a hook.

Fishing regulations on the waters running along the Louisiana-Texas border change Sept. 1 to make size restrictions and daily bags consistent, the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries reported.
The regulations, which cover the Sabine River, Toledo Bend and Caddo Lake, mean anglers on those waters no longer have to keep up with two separate sets of rules.

Ten boaters from across the state were cited with operating a vessel while intoxicated during the Memorial Day weekend, the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries reported.
In Southeast Louisiana, the LDWF Strikeforce made DWI cases against:
• Rouddy A. Pierce, 43, of Galliana, on Bayou Blue in Lafourche Parish on May 28;
• Brandon B. Vice, 25, of Houma, on the Intracoastal Waterway in Terrebonne Parish on May 29; and
• Phillip J. Trahna, 25, of Gibson, on the Intracoastal Waterway in Terrebonne Parish on May 29.

Every school has its legends.
In the hallowed halls of Metairie’s Ridgewood Prep, deep in the dusty corners of painted hallways, amidst the clanging of slammed locker doors, the faint echo of one name still resonates.
Listen closely, and you’ll hear it. Peer through the glass of the well-stocked trophy case, and you’ll see it.
It’s a name that rolls from the tongues of foam-fingered boosters, sitting in bleachers and reminiscing of the school’s glory days.
