Using a baitcasting reel to pursue bass – along with redfish and sea trout in the salt - has advantages over other fishing reel styles. Anglers can be more accurate with lure placement, cast quicker so you’re lure is in the water more, and when you’ve mastered a baitcasting reel, it really becomes the only reel you’ll want to use. Whether you’re just starting out with casting reels or are already well versed with one from years on the water, you can now experience fishing with Shimano with the new Caenan baitcasting reels.

Loaded with proven Shimano features, the Caenan reels are available in two versions – the CAE100 and left-hand retrieve CAE101.

Anglers can easily adjust spool speed – and dial the reel in to reduce backlashes, with Shimano’s Variable Brake System.

“With VBS, you can conveniently turn brake weights on and off through the 1/8 turn easy access attached sideplate, “said Kenichi Iida, Shimano’s reel product specialist. “New to casting reels? Turn on 5 or 6 weights, and as you become more confident with your casting abilities, turn off a few and you’ll see even more casting distance. And remember, the long your lure is in the water, the odds are in your favor that you’ll catch more fish.”

The Caenen reels have a 6.5:1 gear ratio for versatility to use many types of lures.

Capable of retrieving in 27-inches of line per crank, the CAE100 and 101 have the spool capacity to handle 180 yards of 8-pound test mono, or 190 yards of 30-pound PowerPro braid. Both reels feature six shielded stainless steel ball bearings, along with Shimano’s QuickFire II clutch bar and aluminum Lo-Mass spool system.
