I was hunting a stand that I have hunted all my life outside of Leesville, LA. I had some nice pictures of this deer but I did not believe that I would ever get a shot at him because all of the photos was at 1:00 AM - 3:00 AM. But I was still very prompt to be on the stand every morning after getting the pictures. I was sitting on a small creek on a 2 year cut over. It had grown up pretty thick. I thought if I was going to get a shot at him it would be in this thicket. At 6:50 AM I turned and looked behind me and @ 215 Yrds I seen him going across a recently cut clear cut. I got a good rest and shot him with my 300 WSM. I could tell when I shot that I had him. I waited as long as I could then climbed down and headed to where I shot him. Just to see that I had no blood trail. I was discusted with my self. I followed his tracks through the clear cut for about 150 Yrds before I saw a drop of blood. I kept following him and about another 75 yrds I found a good pile of blood. I called my father and some friends in to come help me track him. We tracked and trailed him another 3/4 of a mile before we laid our hands on him. It was a nice suprise to get an upclose on him. He gross scores 189 4/8,
