Friday morning Weather Change
Tucked away in a deep canal Friday morning in shorts while the front pushed through. Man the the coldest Ive been in a while. We battled it out for 23 trout 3 reds and 10 drum. Joining me was Kirk Trosclair and Owen (BooBoo) Candies. We had enough of the wind and cold by 10am and called it a day. Topwater Lodge

Thursday report
40 trout and 10 reds. Brent Herring joined me thursday for a get some fish for a party trip. We had a great time catching trout on opening night plastic and storm swim baits and then stick our redfish limit in a hard southwest wind on shrimp under corks. Wanted to get on a little redfish action in the ponds before the water left with this front. Topwater Charters.

Windy Weekend Still Catching
The Barfeild Clan fish in any weather. They had the best captain booked for it as Capt John put on the reds with no problem. A extreme change would normally shut the fish down but Captain Johns plan worked and the reds lost. Topwater Lodge

Cocodrie this past Friday
Excellent weather and happy times as Capt John and Capt Coby ripped the reds with good number of trout in both boats. The reds and trout where both caught in the marsh. Bait under a cork for the reds and tighlined or plastic under a cork for the trout. Copper colored reds all weekend as we ran 3 boats Saturday and 3 Boats Sunday. Easy pickens on the reds as all the boats where done before 10am on both morning. All fish caught with minnows or Shrimp under a cork. The reds where aggressive and would hit the cajun thunder corks before taking the baits. We could have caught them on topwater baits or spoons but the guys like the bait fishing. Water still high but I have a hunch that it will drop good after this next front. Topwater Lodge
Topwater Charters would like to once again thank all it's customers and future customers for their best year ever. Capt John and Capt Joey have Topwater Lodge looking it's best ever. We sold our two oldest Black Jacks this year and have new one's on order for Spring of 2010. I must say the Black Jack is a incredible boat to make 4 fishing seasons and still look and handle like they did. The New Black Jacks will be powered by Mercury Verado's. We will run 4 Black Jacks through the winter two with Honda's and two with Mercury Verado's. We also have great news of a new Web site which is up but still needs some adjustment. Wack and stack
100% operational camps loaded with food,alcohol and always a good time. Capt John and I fished Phoenix international this past two days sponsored by Otto candies. Pictured are Brett,Warren,Frank, Steve, and Big Brian Two days of fishing for a tally of 350 trout. Trout all over the parish as we fished all over just to look around. I rode the whole parish from wonder lake and Madison bay to sister lake, mud lake, Mechant, eagle lake and Lost lake. Found fish everywhere. If Apache doesn't patch the holes in Lake Decade the fishing in the lake will be incredible all winter. We have some openings in October and November, give us a call and we will make you a good deal. Back up and running Sept 26
It seems like six months but we are back up and running. A full 30 days out as we will start operation again on Sept 26. Putting the finishing touches to the dock like fish cleaning tables. Can't Wait to fish
As I watched from Lafayette the northern eyewall hit Cocodrie, I knew both my lodges were destroyed. I was calling friends and ordering pilings to start the process of a brand new lodge. Capt John just left Topwater 30 minutes ago we have very minimal damage which include a property fence down and my screen porch on my brown lodge is destroyed with a little roof damage on the south side. The white lodge has been untouched and will be ready for lodging as soon as we get power. Expecting the worst surge possible, I knew my dock facility would be gone. We only had a 4 to 6 foot surge and the dock facility faired the best. My 1400 pound ice machine was untouched. All the fish cleaning tables, bait wells and boat lifts just need power. As soon as we get power we will be up and running honoring any cancelled trips and business, as usual. All six blackjacks rode the storm out at my house in Waterproof. Week in review
Capt John found some lost fish. They must have swam over from venice or Lake Pontchrain. Every year these twigs and Logs show up (Capt Ross Terms) and we accidently catch them. We try to send them back to where they belong but their is so much bait for them to eat, so they stick around. They seem to like topwater baits as we couldn't keep them off the hooks. Capt Coby and Capt Rob took yesterday as a oppurtunity to scout. They fished not far from where Kevin and I shot our show and stayed a little longer to finish their 75 fish limit.
