NO oil in Leeville
I'm not sure how long we can hold out. I've been through the surrounding marshes of our marina, a radius of about 5 miles. I haven't seen any oil or residue. I plan to take a camera crew out to the Islands tommorrow. I'll post what we find.
Even if they open it up today, It'll take till the end of summer to get folks to come back. But you won't have a place to stay. The clean up crews have booked up everything for their workers. You can't blame us local operators for trying to grab whatever we can, but if you have to drive 3-4 hrs to come fishing, are still going to come?
GOD PROVIDES in ALL Circumstances, just not like we would like it, or think it should be, but he does provide.

3 STRIKES YOUR OUT
WELL IT'S OFFICIAL. OUR, AND I USE THAT TERM LOOSELY, GOVERNMENT HAS PUT UNDER THE TABLE POLITICAL PAYOFFS ABOVE OUR LIVES, LIVELYHOOD, ENVIRONMENT & FUTURE. I SAY FORGET THE ARMY CORP. & BUILD WHAT WE WANT. THE LEVEE'S ARE TO LATE FOR NOW, MAYBE EVER, BUT TO HECK WITH THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT. ISAY WE TAKE CARE OF OUR OWN & CUT OF ALL THE OIL TO THE REST OF THE COUNTRY. THEY PAY FOR CLEANUP OUR WAY OR START BURNING CORN OIL TO RUN YOUR CARS, HEAT YOUR HOMES OR WHAT EVER ELSE YOU CAN FIND. HEAR ME LOUD AND CLEAR, THERE IS NO BODY CLEANING UP A DAMN THING ANYWHERE. BOOMS ARE A JOKE. THEY JUST HAVE SOON SPRAYED DDT ON THE WATER AS A DISPERSANT. OUR WAY OF LIFE IS OVER!!! THIS IS NOT A HURRICANE THAT WE CAN REBUILD AFTER. 4 HURRICANES IN 3 YEARS COULDN'T STOP THE PEOPLE OF LOUISIANA. BUT POLITICAL MAYHEM HAS KILLED US.

Paddle Palooza 7 Leeville
Well it's finally over. The 7th annual Paddle Palooza Kayak tournament is done. Over 100 Kayakers from across the state came to Bobby Lynn's Marina to hold their annual event. Fishing was hard but no one was deterred. It was amazing to see the amount of fish caught and weighed in. The winning trout was 5.60 lbs. As always in Louisiana, there was plenty of food, beer & music. To see the tournament results, go to Bayou Coast Kayak Fishing Club on the web.To become a member log on.

Leeville prime location
The opening of Grand Isle's waters for inshore & offshore is a testament to the concerns of LDWF for recreational fisherman. It is there goal to open all fishing area's as fast as possible after closure to keep our buisnesses open and sustainable as much as humanly possible with regards to the safety of human life a top priority. It's not a political thing in any way shape or form. As the threats of oil come, closures will happen. If the oil does not come in and passes us by, they will be lifted & re-opened. Everyone must remember that the work that is being done out there is both necessary & a hazard. Everyone is scrambling around the islands trying to put out boom or churn the slick up. The fewer boats that are in the area, the less the chance of a boating accident can occur. THANK GOD that we still have not had oil come into the marshes & that we still have some places fish. Pray that the new cap works & that the oil stays offshore till it can be cleaned up better.
Kudos to Andy for staying on top of this thing for all of us to get the most up to date information.

Timbalier Island
Great reports came in today from the barrier islands. Lots of bull reds and some trout on the outside. No trout caught inside the islands though. Still best bet for trout are in the deeper canals along the oyster reefs on the bottom.

Fish are waking up Leeville
Fisherman fishing out of Bobby Lynn's Marina caught limits of reds & several trout today. The pattern is to fish the deeper canals on the oyster reefs or clam shell banks. Fish on the bottom with live minnows or dark plastics slow. With the water warming up things are getting ready to explode.

Leeville drummin
Bayou Lafourche. While the recent reports have been slow fishing at best, the warming trend this week is what the doctor ordered. Big Drum & redfish have started to show up on the shell banks in Leeville. Fish from Bobby Lynn's Marina north of the bridge to the Chevron heliport south of the bridge. You want to fish slow to a dead stop on the bottom with dead shrimp or a live cockahoe. The bite is slow, so be patient. This pattern has produced regularly this week & the catch has been redfish, Bull drum & a few trout mixed in. With the weather starting to change, the fish will start to finally move some.
