Wild and Crazy Trout Action today!!
My boys from MS sure know how to pick their days to come down to Dularge to fish , seems like they bring the lucky rabbit foot every time they come.
We had some wild and crazy action on the Skeeter today , on the first cast I had double 18inch trout and that was the story for the next 2 hours. We caught some of the nicest trout I've caught in months , almost all 75 fish looked like they came out of the same mold. The guys have caught plenty trout in the past but they couldn't believe how many 20inch and larger fish we had flying in Skeeter this morning, it was sure nice to be done before 9:30am and then enjoy the nice cool ride back to the marina. Double rigged Matrix Shad and HLT swimmers did all the damage today.

The fish have showed up in big numbers at the beaches so give me a call to get in on this crazy action!!

Back on the Trout 5-4-13
Day 3 with Intolect and I had Mike and Alec back onboard and we went back to slamming the trout again today. We started the day of early on the reefs picking up some real nice Trout and then we decided to make the run offshore , out first 3 stops only produced 2 fish but we found what we where looking at our last stop. We had 18-20inch fish coming in 2 at a time and the guys where having a great time slinging them in, first time catching doubles for Alec. rnrnAll of our fish where caught on HLT swimmers and double rigged Matrix Shads in Shrimp Creole and Green Hornet. rnrnCapt. Redfish Day in DU 5-3-12
Today was day 2 with the Intolect crew and with the windy conditions we decided to leave the trout alone and make it a Redfish day. Mike and Alec where on board today and they had a great time reeling in over 15 Reds, Alec had never caught a Redfish before today and he was amazed at just how hard they fight. We fished deep in the ponds and sight casted most of our fish so that was quite an experience for my guys.

Trout, Reds and Flounder...
Today it was as easy as it gets to fill the Yeti full of nice Fat Trout , Redfish and Flounder. I had Mike and Bryan with Intolect onboard and these guys where a blast to fish with, we had just as much fun laughing and cutting up as we did fishing all day.
All of our fish today where caught fishing the lakes with double rigged Matrix Shads and HLT swimmers in bunker color, Mike had never caught trout 2 at a time before but that all changed today as he had plenty doubles flying in the Skeeter.

Maryland to Dularge
Today I had a family reunion onboard , Mrs. Marsha and Mr.Sam from Houma had their cousins Mike and Kathy come in all the way from Maryland to experience just how beautiful our marshes are and what a great fishery we have here in South LA.
It wasn't long after we stopped the boat Mrs. Kathy was yelling' I have a fish , I have a fish' and she was right her first ever speck hit the deck and it wasn't long after that she was reeling them in like a old pro. We had to make a few moves today to stay on the fish but we had no problem keeping up with them, my crew picked up on the the pattern quickly and had no problem catching them 2 at time on double rigged Matrix Shad and on corks fishing over the reefs.

The highlight of the day was at out last stop Marsha picked a pole for the first time all day long and a HUGE Bull Red destroyed her cork and the fight was on, she wrestled that thing for 20min and wouldn't let anyone help her and that's the first fish she has ever caught in her life , what a first fish !!

Rainy Day Trout Slam..
Sunday I had Dr. Hank Seigelson and his wife Kim from Atlanta onboard the Skeeter for a quick evening of trout fishing,We left the dock at 3pm dry and returned at 7pm wet but with nice box of trout so that made it all worth it. They where traveling through the area on a ' Cajun Culture tour' as they called it and trout fishing was on the TOP of the list for Dr. Hank, we loaded up with double rigged Matrix Shads and Shiney Hiney corks and made 1 stop and within a few cast we had Trout coming in the boat 2 at time.
We had a great time even though we had to break out the rain gear, funny how when the trout are flying in the boat you forget all about the bad conditions.

Day 2 - Trout Action on Fire!
Just when we thought the action in Dularge couldn't get any better it did, Day 2 of our trip was as easy as gets as we had over 75 fish hit the deck of the Skeeter before 8am. Everything today was caught on double rigged Matrix Shad and Shiney Hiney corks.
At our stop The fish where in a feeding frenzy just as daylight broke chasing shrimp and blowing up on the top of the water as far as we could see. It was one of those days when as soon as the baits hit the water before you could flip the bail the fish was alreay on. When the weather and wind cooperate days like today are what you can expect when fishing down in Dularge.

It's hard to beat days like today , at our first stop we had nice fat trout coming in 2at a time on double rigged Matrix Shads. We thought we would finish our limits in no time but after about 20fish the bite went cold on us but after 2 more stops we had the cooler full with our 50 trout well before 10am.
We found most of our fish on the reefs but we did manage a couple of keepers under the birds, double riged Matrix Shad and Shiny Hineys did most of the damage today but I was testing a new HLT prototype bait that held its on with the trout too.

Good ole Trout Slam...
What a beautiful day to be out on the water,I left the Skeeter on the trailer today and I jumped in the boat with Earl and Aaron from Picayune MS and they sure picked the right day to go fishing. Our first stop we found birds working as far as we could see but the lake was full of 10-11' trout so we made a short move and hit the jackpot, we put the power pole down and before we knew it we had the box full of beautiful Trout.

We found the fish stacked up on a point where a deep bayou was draining into a major lake and we loaded the cooler. Earl caught the 'Grand Slam Plus ' today catching trout , redfish, flounder and a few sheepshead, now that doesn't happen everyday.
The water temp was up in the 60's and it really had the fish active, we started the morning off throwing popping corks with Cocodrie Cocahoes in various colors but as it warmed up we switched over to double rigged Matrix Shad and the trout where destroying them. As the water temperature continues to rise the fishing will get more consistent and the shrimp should begin showing up in big numbers soon in all the big lakes. Good time on the Water!
Today I fished with Earl and Aaron Julian from MS and the day started out slow again with no tide movement early, I don't think we put out first fish in the boat until after 8am. As soon as the tide started moving the light switch turned on and we where all hooking up with trout but once again it didn't last long, the story today was stick and move. We would stop and catch a few then the bite would go cold so pick up ,repeat and do it all over again, we must have fished 10 locations today to get our fish. rnThe pattern today was Tight lined Matrix Shads and Shiney Hiney corks over reefs and deeper bayous with 3-6ft of water. Trout and Redfish Fun...
I had Scott Toups from Erath,LA onboard today to see if we could track down some trout and reds and that's just what we did, no limits today but we did put a good mess of trout and Reds in the box for Scott to bring back home with him.
We started catching trout within minutes of stopping at our first spot but it didn't last long , not much tide movement is what had the early bite slowed way down. About 10am the tide started moving and we started picking up fish again and while fishing for trout we even managed to hook up with 6 Redfish. Our best bait today was the Green Hornet Matrix shad fished in 2-6ft of water with a slow retrieve.
Thanks Scott for such good company and hanging in there when the fishing slowed down for a while early.

Take a kid fishing Day in DU..
Had a great day on the water with my son Blake today, we took advantage of a few hours of fishing before his appointment today.
We didn't have all day so we knew we had to make our time on the water count, Blake was sure aware of that because his first 3 cast he landed 2 keeper trout. We thought that we had hit the jackpot but that's was not the case, after 7 fish they shut down on us. We bounced around a few hours catching a few here and there but no limits today although we did have more than enough for a family dinner tonight and Any day that I get to spend on the water with my son is a great day for me regardless of how many trout make it in the box!!

Best bait today was the Green Hornet Matrix Shad fished in 3-6ft of water with a slow retrieve. Blake caught several just sitting it on still on the bottom.

Trout bite is HOT in Dularge!
The trout action is finally back to 100% after Mother Nature has given us a short break from the cold temps and high winds.
We had no problem stuffing the cooler full of big beautiful trout today, we fished several locations in the marsh and every stop had clean moving water and hungry trout ready to eat up our Matrix Shads and HLT swim baits. Water temps are up in the 70deg range and that warm water really has the trout in a feeding frenzy right now, the best technique was a slow to medium retrieve bumping the baits off the bottom in the deeper transition canals.
Looks like windy conditions the next few days but when it all calms down the trout action should continue to improve from here on out.

As GOOD as it gets !!!!
It was as Good as it gets today , we slammed the Redfish and the trout deep in the marsh on spinner baits and swim baits. We packed up Capt. Rodney's gator tail and left the launch with Redfish on minds ,Sammy's first cast produced a nice keeper Redfish and after that it was on as we caught beautiful Redfish one after another for several hours. After we finished with our Redfish we moved off the bank about 30 yards into the main channel , dropped the anchor and caught our limit of 75 beautiful speckled trout.

All of our fish today where caught in less than 4ft of water slow rolling spinners tipped with Matrix Shads and Black back swim baits. Another great day spent with good friends doing what we love!!!
