I started this mess after a revelation while grilling in my own backyard. I was eyeballing my overpriced stainless pile of thin gauge rubble, realizing it would be mere months before it was yet again time to buy another. Well, at that moment I started thinking about all the other pits I've purchased over the years that have burnt through, rusted out, wouldn't hold temp, or possibly floated away and I was just down right aggravated. I don't know about you, but growing up I can only remember my family having one BBQ pit; which by the way is STILL in use to this day. That pit was built by my late grandfather, a true American Fabricator. Fortunately for me some of those good genes made it through... and today I'm channeling those bits of smokey grilled chromosome goodness into some of the finest heavy built pits you, your children, and most likely your grandchildren will be cooking on for years to come.
