Monster Cocodrie Trout
Monster trout action down in Cocodrie. We've been catching 4, 5, 6, & 7 lb trout on a regular basis, and I have the pictures to prove it. I fished today with Ryan Rayburn and Victoria Craig from New Roads, LA. Despite the 15 mph winds, we caught many trout worthy of hanging on your wall. The biggest was caught by Victoria which measured in at a whopping 6.75 lbs. We caught 5+ lb fish today, several 4+ lb fish, and countless 3+ lb fish over the last couple of weeks. Cocodrie is the new big trout hot spot. Most fish are being caught on top water baits. There is nothing better than watching a huge trout blow up on a top water bait.

Big trout on topwater in Cocodrie. I had a great time today fishing with David and his son Cameron from Thibodaux. We caught monster trout on Top Dogs in the marsh. Several trout 4+ lbs with the largest being 5.5 lbs. The weather is warming up and the action is getting better every day. Call Capt Olden at 985-856-6494.

Cocodrie scouting trip
Had my good friend Randy Leblanc on the boat today to help me build duck blinds. Ducks were everywhere. Flocks of 30-40+ were coming into the duck ponds as we were brushing the blinds. We got out of there by 11am in an effort to not disturb all of the ducks. We brought the rods and reels with us to catch a few trout. We ended up catching an easy limit by 1pm with an average size of about 18 inches. Big speckled trout and lots of ducks. Looks like it'll be a great season.

I had the pleasure today of fishing with a couple of German guys, Manfred and his son Dominic. We gave them a taste of some Cocodrie fishing. We easily caught our 75 trout limit and caught and released countless more white and speckled trout. They'll go back across the big pond with a few nice fishing stories.

Weekend fishing report
Took Donald and his crew from Schreveport out on the Triton for anohter trout slam on Saturday. Action started off a little slow with our first three stops producing only 12 trout. One more move and it was on. This crew of four finished off their limit in one hour! With double rigged Dudleys we had fish hitting the deck 6 at a time! Fast trout action
David, Ryan, and Blake were on the Triton for a Tuesday evening trip. One stop shopping with fast and furious action. We pulled up to our first stop and the yellow mouths were up on top feeding on shrimp. We threw tandom rigged Dudleys and Assassins, and had trout comming in the boat 5 at a time! It took 70 minutes to catch our 100 trout limit! Captain Olden 985-856-6494

The day started off slow, our first three stops produced no fish. I have to admit that I was getting worried. We made only one more move before the action came up fast. Finished a limit of trout at one spot, and the streak goes on. Captain Olden 985-856-6494

Haven't been able to get to the computer, so I am posting a three day report. Cocodrie fishing is nonstop action right now. All week long the weather has been great, and the fish are responding. Wednesday had a limit of trout by 8:00 and finished a redfish limit by 11:00. Thursday was a duplicate of Wednesday. A limit of reds and trout by 11:30. Today was a little tougher. Lots of boats on the water due to two fishing rodeos, so it took longer to finish the 100 trout limit. It took us until noon. All trout were caught on avocado Deadly Dudlys. It seems the best tactic is to follow the shrimp. All along the coast big schools of trout are going crazy after shrimp. Shrimp are poping out of the water as the hungry yellow mouths are persuing them from below. Redfish were caught in the marsh using live shrimp under a cork.
