Loop Current water moving in
We have been watching this body of water working its way into the delta. It is still about 40nm off but has been moving north at a good clip. The water is 74+ degrees and should reload all the deep water rigs it crosses with sizable fish. Good luck and let us know how you do if you make it out there. Check us out for the updated progress on the water and where it is moving to.
If you are new to satellite imagery. We have some great tutorials on our tutorial page.
Great True Color Shot 3/11/2011
The front really cleared for a great satellite shot of the delta. Hopefully, you guys are able to get out and take advantage of the loop current break-off this weekend. The warm water break-off has been here for a few weeks now and really brought in the tuna. Feel free to call or log on for details on where the fish have been biting and where the productive water is and where it is heading. Thanks,Philip 713.582.1868
11/17 Nice Rip near New Closure Boundaries
Boy, it is sure good to see more water open to fishing. Here is a nice shot off the delta. There is a great rip just West of the new closure boundaries. The altimetry in the area is favorable as well. Let me know if you are heading out this weekend and I will do my best to point you in the right direction. Tight Lines. Shots of the spill
I will do my best to keep this thread updated with images that come across our service. Keep in mind a few limitations. I can only post imagery that is 400 pixels wide. Additionally, the sensors are limited on what they can pick up from that distance in space. Higher resolution imagery can be seen at www.ripcharts.com. Let me know if you have any questions and I will do my best to answer.
Here is yesterday's True Color image. The sun glare really highlighted the spill.
Oil Spill Update
Here is yesterdays Hi-Res True Color image. I does not look good out there. When the actual product is visible on the surface, it is quite severe. Hopefully, they can get this under control.
Blue Water Report
Just three days ago blue water was four miles from Southwest pass... as of today it is 20+. Yet, on the East side of the delta, water has moved in. Also, note the counter clockwise eddy South of the lump. It is really amazing how fast things move around the delta.
Check us out for more true color, chlorophyll, sea surface temperature and altimetry images.
