I know the subject has been beaten to death but I still don't think I fully understand the 'benefit' of a 14' size limit. I also don't understand why there is a 10 fish kreel limit, that seems a bit high in my opinion. Seems to me that when we are keeping all of the fish that are over 14' that we are taking majority of the good blood lines out of the water. Similar to deer, trophy hunting clubs don't want to kill all of their big bucks so they can breed and spread the good genes. In my opinion it should be a 5 fish kreel limit and no size. I know that sounds crazy but how many people would catch their 5 little 10-12' bass and that's it for the bass they would focus on sacalait or brem after that. Then they wouldn't be hunting down the bigger fish and allowing more of them to breed and keeping your better blood lines plentiful. There definitely isn't a shortage of bass in the spillway area, but it does seem like its more difficult to find bigger fish sometimes.

I fish a few redfish tournaments and I have heard both so I figured I would check with the experts. Which is generally heavier, a redfish that's been feeding on crabs or one that's been feeding on small fish like finger mullet?

I have way to many worms, brush hogs, beavers, lizards, swim baits, and plenty other soft plastics and I can't seem to find a good way to organize them. What's yalls opinion out there on soft plastic storage? What's the best box, bag, or whatever to organize them in? I like to keep my stuff organized and this has been driving me crazy! Any help is very appreciated

Thanks!

Me and two of my friends built a really nice house boat last year and we have it parked in the Intracostal in a really nice spot with electricity, but the problem is that in our current location we have almost no reason to go there. We don't fish around there or hunt or pretty much anything. We were wondering if anyone had any information on houseboat spots around Belle River? Preferably with electricity but we are looking for anything. Any information would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks
Jeremy

I'm planning on going to lake calcasieu this weekend to give it a try for some reds and specks, but I have only fished it once and just don't know much about it. I was wondering if anyone could give me a little advice? Just point me in the right direction. I don't want spots or anything just what to look for and maybe what type of baits have been doing ok down there. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks!

I was looking at getting a new depth finder gps combo and I was wondering if anyone knows anything about the Lowrance Elite-5 DSI Sonar with GPS? It looks like a really awesome deal. Are there any cons to this product?

I'm going try to catch some redfish and maybe a bass or two in DuLarge Thursday. I haven't fished this area and I was wondering if anyone had any pointers or suggestions...where to go, what to look for, or what to fish right now. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

Im looking for an aluminum tunnel hull boat about 16-17 foot. I've looked at square tunnels, round tunnels, custom built, and brand name. What are the pros and cons of a square tunnel vs a round tunnel. Basically I want to be able to run in as shallow water as possible. I'm looking to buy pretty soon. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

A comment titled: Not more laws...different in response to a report titled: 14' size limit benefit?

Not more laws just a change of the old laws. Just my personal opinion, but we have tried the 14' thing for a long time and I can't say it's not working but I sure wouldn't mind seeing if something else worked better. If you dropped the creel limit and the size limit your bigger fish (theoretically) would still be out there to spawn instead of in an ice chest. Like the other guy said the fish im catching are very healthy just almost seems like they hit 13.5' and stop growing.

A comment titled: Right direction in response to a report titled: JIG FISHING FOR BASS

They are steering you in the right direction. Last year I wanted to learn the same thing so I left all my soft plastics at home and just brought 4 jigs. Everywhere I would have thrown plastic I threw a jig and it paid off big time. I would suggest black and blue with a sapphire blue pork to start with then you can get creative from there. Just take your time and let the fish tell you what they want.

A comment titled: there is a reason for the question... in response to a report titled: Which is heavier?

The reason I ask is because usually when we are fishing we are sight fishing. That means we are usually in shallow clear water and can see to the bottom, usually if we see a bunch of crabs in an area you can pretty much assume that the fish are feeding primarily on crab and if you catch and clean a few they will be full of crab. The same holds true if we see a bunch of mullet or other minnows. In tournaments the heaviest weight wins (i know everybody already knew this) but literally an ounce can mean the difference between big money and big loser. So I was just curious which was generally heavier. Yes we weigh each fish individually but if one is 'generally' heavier than the other then it can help cut down on some scouting time.

Thanks for all of the info! I never thought about the memorization thing before but it makes a lot of sense. And I'm gonna check out academy and the food storage things. But thanks again!

A comment titled: I agree! in response to a report titled: G3 Tunnel Hull

I have to agree with the other guy! I have a 16' custom built tunnel and I absolutely love it. It amazes me every time I put it in the water. I have 2- 2' runners under mine that make handleing in turns no problem at all, and they also help if I hit a log or something. The main thing is to make sure you have your boat set up right. Hydraulic jack plate, trim tabs, and the right prop makes all the difference in the world. But as you said you will lose a little speed but it's worth it to be able to run where ever you want and not worry about tearing up your motor. Oh and I have never had any problems at the boat landing. Loads just like any other flat bottom. Good luck and if you have any questions feel free to ask.

Last time I was there you could launch at the old Chillis. Im not sure that it cost anything. I went there last year and I don't think it cost anything.

Me and some friends went out of dularge a couple weeks ago and caught 125 trout and didn't feel like cleaning them after so we called this guy. Literally in 20 minutes he had them cleaned separated evenly and bagged! And didn't miss a speck of meat! Straight up awesome!
