I liked the old way the reports were setup and listed before! Louisiana Sportsman's new Forum Report setup is non user and viewer friendly in my opinion. Am I the only one that liked the old setup? It is now more like a blog,
Checked out the marsh after all the rain and found this nice Red who was hungry. Caught 2 small Trout and 2 small bass along with one gar,( all throw backs). Moved to another spot and got one more 17' red and called it a day. Was nice to get on the water after all the rain.
Took the Kayak out this past week before all the high tide and caught some small Trout. Tried the 5 mile HWY 11 Bridge with no luck. See end of video for report summary.
Took the boys for a fishing camp-out on the boat this weekend. Got into a few trout and had a great time spending the night on the boat. Most trout caught with live shrimp under a cork. had to move to several spots to find them. Got 22 specks and two whites. Time spent with kids, priceless.
The Kayak crews have been catching a few trout in Bayou Lacombe, I created a map showing some of my spots that are easy to get to with a kayak, check out the link. Good Luck. https://www.google.com/maps/d/edit?mid=zDdiEHNZsCjY.kGTv4LVn4FTc&usp=sharing
Hunted the Pearl River WMA Thur. & Fri. Got my limit one day and next day only had one group come in and got four with three shots. Lots of woodies around. Also caught a couple of specks to boot. Blastin & Castin southern style.
Great Opening on the North Shore, more birds than last year thanks to that big cold front. Lots of teal Sat. and lots of greys Sun. Got my first Pintail and what a beauty. Heard lots of shooting and sure am glad I braved the weather Sun. Happy and Safe hunting to all.
Great opening day for the first Youth Duck Hunt. Lots of green wing teal. So glad I brought a backup gun because the used one I bought wasn't working so well. Seems like there were a few groups of young duck hunters around us and they were shooting good too. We went back the next day and they were mostly gone and a little shy for the ones that remained. Always great to bring new young hunter to the sport. Making memories.
Took a quick AM trip out to the south end of hwy 11 bridge in Lake Pontchartrain and caught a few puppy drum. The bite was slow and the tide was rolling in. I used dead shrimp on the bottom.
Been working down in Grand Isle for about a week now and made a few morning trips out in the kayak and found a few small trout and reds. Only caught one keeper Red, 16.1 and one keeper trout 12.1. Most trout are right at 10'. I been using dead and live shrimp under a cork. Also more hard heads and gafftops than I would like to count. Still learning the area.
Took an afternoon trip on Monday then a morning trip on Tuesday. Caught tagged red fish both days. Water was murky and the bite was far and few but managed to get four reds and one drum. Most caught on the matrix shad and some on dead shrimp.
Took a quick trip out of Dockside yesterday and found a few Reds and Trout holding up in some holes. Check out the video for the info.
I know this is under Kayak Fishing but I hunt out of my Yak too. Been catching some nice Bass after my hunts. The Full moon and warm temps last week had them jumping all around the blind. All caught on Matrix Shad.
Been hunting public land the past week and did OK, Never got a limit but realy didn't want one two is enough to clean and cook for me. After getting a couple nice ducks I caught a couple nice Green Trout in the same spot. Love the Louisiana Marsh.
Took a trip out yesterday to see if the trout were still around after being gone at work for two weeks, guess what? Yep they are still out there. Plus I got on a school of Bass too. Only one small red fish. Had a great time. Check out my video. Also saw three deer crossing the bayou, at the end of video, hope you can see them, kind of far off from camera.
Had a great trip Sunday morning before the Saints game. Calm waters and one little shower. All trout caught on hybrid Flurry retrieving fast over grass. A lot of small ones but did get a few 12.5 keepers. Left them biting. Son and Wife was going but wouldn't get up, their loss, lol. Hope you enjoy the video.
Took the Yak out today under the Twin Span and did OK, a lot of small trout and Puppy drum. Landed two nice keeper reds one trout and a big sheep head. all on dead shrimp on the bottom. Quit around noon because the wind and waves kicked up.
Grill your favorite fish with your favorite seasoning but sprinkle with a little Cumin. Crank up your fryer and take the flour tortillas and when the grease is hot place one into the grease and use a metal ladle to push it down and hold it for about 15 seconds, then use metal tongs to flip it and fry for about another 20 seconds, remove and drain on paper towels. This will be the base for your Grilled Fish Taco Salad. Chop some lettuce, onion, garlic and bell peppers. After you made your crunchy taco salad shell, grill your fish, we like to use Red fish caught fresh that day, after you pull your seasoned grilled fish off place on the side. In a sauté pan add your butter, onion, garlic and bell peppers, sauté for about 2 min, add your grilled fish and some of your favorite picante sauce and sauté for an additional 30 seconds, be sure to add a touch more Cumin. (If you like it hot add some Chile peppers). Put your washed chopped lettuce into your fried flour tortilla (Taco Shell) and top with you fish concoction. You can add some sour cream and guacamole if desired sit and enjoy.

Me and my son took the kayaks out one after noon on the South side of Lake P. under the HWY 11 Bridge, (May 7th), we did OK, was slow and most fish were to small, however I did manage to catch a big Red, it was fun to fight him away from the bridge for about 20 min, my son did get a legal one too but not as big as Dads, LOL. I have heard that the bite is real good right now with specks, flounder and reds.
Stuffed Louisiana Snowballs
With the opening of our Snowball & Concession Stand we decided to dedicate this months recipe to a old traditional New Orleans Louisiana favorite. Visit your local snowball stand preferably ours, LOL. Ask for your favorite flavor and say STUFF IT! Our request would be, strawberry stuffed with vanilla ice cream topped with condensed milk and make that a large. You can also ask for a blend from our snowball stand. We take your stuffed snowball and blend it, which makes a malt/smoothie type cool treat to enjoy on the bayou under our new tent. One more twist you could do is adding a chocolate candy bar to the mix. Get creative and ask for your own twist. If we do not carry you flavor ask our server to request it and we will get it. Thanks and we look forward to seeing you on the bayou.
