Help my son made the honor roll and has a desire to put down a pig. I need to know of a reputable guide and ranch where I can accomodate my son. He is 13 years old and I am not looking for a wild and wooly pig hunt but a fun one. Please advise if you know of a property and a guide which accomodates hog hunts. I live in Morgan City and do not want to travel too far to kill some bacon and ham. Pleas help me out with your experience and references.

I do not see any notifications of a closure of Snapper season for Tuesday June 1st. It would appear from the mouth of the Atchafalaya River and all points west will be legal and outside of the fish/wildlife obliteration zone (or the governmental we are not sure zone). Does anyone know anything different? The NOAA post a closure of July 23rd based on catch ratios. So if 25% of the Gulf is closed won't the catch numbers be wrong? Will anyone in the NOAA Fisheries Division even consider the dynamic nature of this year's season? Lastly, I am sorry for all of the boats that depended on this season to make a living chartering during the few days we were given by the Southeast Fishery Division I can only hope that BP has to make that right.
Stop the flo we can't take no mo

Hammered the snapper could not get them to quit biting to catch anything else. 76 foot of water and limits for all on board many fish over 15 pounds.

Neither the NOAA or Robert Barham post a real email address so that we could send in our thoughts about the recent Federal closure to match the State closure. The closest thing I could find would be a link to the Governor's email system here:

We really need to say something since we got hit a week before the snapper season. We already know the feds micromanage us to death on a plentiful fish the red snapper. Now they are agreeing with the head of the LDWF Barham on closures.

The only problem is that the new federal closures do not match the NOAA projections on there own web site for oil coverage. So again we are faced with no science or reason just government telling us what's best for us.
