I just read several post made last week about the recent push to enforce trailer inspection sticker requirement. Police usually would not stop a vehicle for inspction unless it was presenting a hazard. Then they may write a ticket for no inspection ticket. LDWF never checked for trtailer inapection stickers that I'm aware of in my area (central LA) until recently. Now they are writing tickets at the boat launches.
Now its about the money. I own two boat trailers, two utility trailers and a travel trailer. That's $50 per year in inspection fees going to the state and that's just me. How many trailers in LA? Now that the crunch is on, this a lot of money the state has not been collecting. Now they want it.
I bought a used boat last year that had seperate titles on the boat, motor and trailer. Cost me a fortune to get all titles and registration transfered. Wouldn't surprise me if at some time in the future all boats will have to be titled which will lead to sales tax on private used boat sales, same as private sales of used trtailers.
Now what about ATVs. I don't know anyone that has kept the registration current on their 4-wheelers, etc. Better get the registration current before next hunting season.
Does anyone know if the Feds are even considering opening the federal waters east of the Mississippi this year? I've tried to find out but must not be talking to the right people.
