Looking for some salvinia weevils. I talked to the LSU agcenter, and their nursery was shut down by the landowner due to negative relations with the public. They won't have any ready for a year. Does anyone know where I might find some?

My brother caught a unique flounder this weekend. The fish had only a small patch of white on one side, as you can see in the picture. The rest of the fish was colored, and he wasn't 'flat' on his bottom side. Anyone ever see one like this?

I have an 05 Chevy Z71. It is making a knocking noise (fairly faint) in the front end when turning that I feel through the steering wheel. It has done this before when the truck was under warranty, and the dealer would fix it right up with what they termed a 'lube kit'. My question is what are they lubing? is it in the steering column or is it the control arm? I have greased the control arms, but I find the problem persisting.

Anybody knows where I can find seat bases with the Brass bushing (insert) instead of Plastic bushings? I have had terrible luck with the plastic bushings and the brass ones last for a lifetime, never seize on the post, and where the same price. I just can't find them anymore.

I keep hearing about assault weapons on the news. I have the utmost respect for the people so confronted by tragedy. I am a teacher, a parent, a hunter, and at heart an American! I beleive the strength of America, and any democracy, so conceived and so dedicated is an informed puplic. However, every police report and newspaper report for three days of this tragedy mentioned an assault weapon (actually a .223, assault mever mentioned) found in the suspects car. The media, as Heard tonite, has declared that assault weapons are to blame for this tragedy, even as the reports claim no such use, and have even launched an attack on assault weapon ammunition, becauase it causes too much damage. This is hunting ammo the news media is attacking based on untruths, how horrible, America will stand against false advertising, but allow the news media to disaasemble our constitution with fallacious reports!

Well, it appears the fields i was planning to hunt will be flooded. I noticed the public dove fields are further to the west and north, so they may get a little less rain. I have never hunted one of these, what time do you need to get there? any help is appreciated.

Looking into a new gun to hunt deer and Geese with. I want a semi-auto that shoots 3.5 inch shells. I have shot and handled several guns, and have narrowed it down to the Browing gold, Browning Silver, or Benelli SBE II. What i need help with is to hear from people who have used these in hunting situations. I like the way these guns feel and point, just looking for help

Only thing that takes care of it effectively is salt water.... Freezes only work for a year or so, spraying kills all the duck feed too, weevils wait until it's mature to eat it, so in the mean time it's smothered all the duck feed and isn't open till January or February...

Last year we never got a freeze and it looks like the weevils dos a good job in the large mature mats we had, but it has spread to other areas, which are maturing this year... Unending battle

A comment titled: Re: DUCK HUNTING in response to a report titled: DUCK HUNTING

Mr Reynolds,
The tough part of this is the fact that I can't even get an answer from the commissioners...I have emailed several of them asking simply, and respectfully, what their decisions are based upon. No answer... I will hunt ducks whenever the season is, and I will enjoy the time in the marsh, swamps, and rice fields no matter what the calendar says, but I would enjoy hunting when ducks are down and not fighting with the wife to have the kids at the camp for Halloween! It is all about the kids, Period! I learned that lesson harder than most over the last year and I believe we should cater to them...apparently our commissioners don't.

I have agreed with your suggestions for years, and have never found your words to be guided by anything other than fact or majority, thank you for that!

Great season last year all in all, better dates than 2013-14, but they moved it back to those dates! I don't get it, special interest groups get what they want! Last few years weave my had big numbers of birds until the east opens and they chase them out of NELA rice fields! and youth season in October! On Halloween! Wth?

A comment titled: Re: Coastal Zones dates in response to a report titled: Coastal Zones dates

Mhelper, you are absolutely correct. And Halloween day youth season... Gotta talk momma into letting the kids coming to marsh for the weekend instead of trick or treat! special interest win again!

I also can't understand the fact that duck migrate north to south and we open the coastal zone 2 weeks before the birds are even pressured on those NELA rice fields.... Makes no sense.

We also so do really well late in the year in intracoastal city, and hit or miss the first split, great if the birds are here, terrible if they are not, not sure what the commissioners are thinking... But good luck getting a response from them

A comment titled: seasons in response to a report titled: Duck Season Dates

I have only been chasing ducks for 20 years, so many of you have more experience than me, but I see several problems with the way the season was set up this year.

* Coastal zone opens before north Louisiana and Arkansas, don't the birds migrate north to south? If we corrected this perhaps hunting pressure could facilitate migration.

* Only the coastal zone split gave ducks a weekend off during the split! Let me be clear, if hunting pressure affects duck habits, we must give them more than 5 weekdays off!

* More than a month without a split hammers ducks! We watched ducks shy away from real ducks because they were so wary by the end of the season. Another split would have helped the ducks calm down some, and allow us to hunt till Jan 31.

With these being said, I had the best duck season I have ever had, but I was able to watch the ducks as the season progressed. I also don't think we need to use this year as a normal year in our adjustments, as I killed several bluewings and grays with pin feathers the last week of the season, indicating the hatch, and therefore the migration was extremely late.

A comment titled: Good Spots in response to a report titled: Indian Bayou/ Sherburne

Both places are good spots for deer, both used to be great for ducks, but its been a long time since I have had a 'good' duck season in either. For deer, nothing beats spending time in the places, lots of scouting, leave guys alone, find several spots as back-ups and it can be productive.

A comment titled: Life jackets in response to a report titled: Photobomb

I wasn't always so diligent, but when the kids came along, I wanted them to be used to life jackets. I have a simple rule, if the big motor is running, we all have life jackets on! The kids are in my boat a ton, and they never even ask or fuss about the jackets, just always been a part of it. We can all swim like fish, but you can't swim if you're knocked cold....
We were running jugs that day, so lots of motoring, rule is life jackets stay on......

Be safe and Good Luck
