Had a tough day down dularge on Friday. It was a very windy day, but when you got to go, you got to go. We had a lot of trouble finding anything to bite. After lots of moving around, me and my work buddy managed to put together a decent mess of fish. Final tally: 9 flounder, 7 trout, and 5 reds. Not bad for his first ever saltwater trip.
My neighbor and I took a trip out of Dularge this past Sunday. We brought his daughter along for the ride for her first saltwater trip. She was excited to say the least, up bright and early well before 5AM. She was a trooper even after we spent 20 minutes getting off a mud flat. She even offered to get out and push! After several rides throughout the DU, we ended up with about a dozen trout and a handfull of keeper reds with at least as many throwbacks. It was a slow fishing day, but the weather was beautiful and it was equally enjoyable to see the excitement as she reeled in all those fish.
I am setting up to bring my 8 year old son and 11 year old nephew down to Lake Decade this weekend. I finally convinced my son to go and it'll be his 1st time and my nephew's 2nd. I have been fishing the area about a dozen times in the last 2-3 months with limited successes. Of course, I would love to get them some good trout or redfish action but any good bites will do, even black drum or sheephead just to get them catching something. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.
