Had a tough day down dularge on Friday. It was a very windy day, but when you got to go, you got to go. We had a lot of trouble finding anything to bite. After lots of moving around, me and my work buddy managed to put together a decent mess of fish. Final tally: 9 flounder, 7 trout, and 5 reds. Not bad for his first ever saltwater trip.

My neighbor and I took a trip out of Dularge this past Sunday. We brought his daughter along for the ride for her first saltwater trip. She was excited to say the least, up bright and early well before 5AM. She was a trooper even after we spent 20 minutes getting off a mud flat. She even offered to get out and push! After several rides throughout the DU, we ended up with about a dozen trout and a handfull of keeper reds with at least as many throwbacks. It was a slow fishing day, but the weather was beautiful and it was equally enjoyable to see the excitement as she reeled in all those fish.

I am setting up to bring my 8 year old son and 11 year old nephew down to Lake Decade this weekend. I finally convinced my son to go and it'll be his 1st time and my nephew's 2nd. I have been fishing the area about a dozen times in the last 2-3 months with limited successes. Of course, I would love to get them some good trout or redfish action but any good bites will do, even black drum or sheephead just to get them catching something. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Great video there Travis! For a while there I thought the banana curse was real till I got my 'swagger' right. Although Jenny says it cursed her instead of me! We had a great time and look forward to our next one. Both Jenny and I were really impressed to catch such a great box of fish with you in not so great conditions. For anyone looking for a first class trip don't hesitate to give Captain Travis a call.

I sure did miss out on this one! But it's hard to get a four year old to schedule sick days, lol. It was good to see all those pics and I look forward to the next trip with the 'Original' Burn Hacker! It sure looks like all that time on the water is paying off. Great catch!

A comment titled: Great day, great captain in response to a report titled: Chasing my tail!!!

We appreciate the trip Travis. We all had a great time. Except that now all I am hearing about is how she caught more than I did, again. The boys had a blast as well. They both passed out before the bridge at Falgout canal. For anyone looking for a great time with a good all around captain, Travis is the man. He did such a great job with the kids and the wife with all her grass and 'rock' fish. We'll see you again soon. Thanks.

Thanks for the invite Travis. It was a great time despite the fact that you guys schooled me on those Lake P trout. Great to fish with you and meet Chris as well. I did watch Chris for a bit and he sure was working hard......LOL

Yep, its a gar. Biggest one I ever caught. Had to be 5 or so feet long. Not much of a fight though. It came up and straight to the boat.

A comment titled: Trout Masters in response to a report titled: trout masters book

Its a decent read, but I agree with you tha it won't teach you much if anything new. My biggest take from it was time. To get better it takes time: time on the water, time learning your fishing areas, and time to figure out the fish.

A comment titled: Talon in response to a report titled: Shallow water anchors

I just got my Talon last week and fished with it for the first time last weekend. It is great. I got the Talon because it is electric and I could easily install it without mounting through the hull. I also didn't want to have to deal with any additional hydraulic fluids. I got the adapter plate which mounts to the side of my jack plate. It took about 10 minutes to install the anchor on the mount (6 bolts total to mount plus 4 set screws). The wiring took a bit longer but I had some unforeseen issues pulling the additional wiring up to the center console.

No burn hackin today. Very slow, ending with 25 trout between 3 of us. Threw everything we had in the box and couldn't get them to turn on. Good seeing you again Marty.

A comment titled: Shimano in response to a report titled: reel question

I have a coastal, citica, and curado. The curado and citica are far smoother in my opinion. I fish 30# braid on all three; for trout and reds. I think the citica is in the same price range as the coastal. I also don't notice enough difference between the curado and citica for the price difference. My next one will be another citica. Just my opinion........

Marty and Jason, thanks for an awesome trip. From all the Fish On and Burn Hacks, I just couldn't get the smile off my face.

Marty, a special thanks for such an enjoyable day. I can now understand why you get such good reviews. Definitely gonna have another trip (or few) with you in the future.

Travis, I sure did get what I was hoping for, a cooler full of fish and a little more know-how for filling it the next time. Only time will tell how much I can put to use?

Chris and Trouthog, great meeting you guys, hope we were't too loud with all the 'Burn Hacks' coming from 'Kenny's' boat. LOL.

Could have passed you going in, started out about 10:30 AM and caught fish all day. Had a blast with the wife, son, and nephew. Ended up with 58 specs. Kids tried bait shrimp but they didn't want anything but the plastics.
